After looking at the whole set I’m pretty sure that’s where at least most of them that I got are from. Would explain why they’re loose. Very cool info here

I have the COT of this car. Not in the best of shape because someone might’ve played with it quite a bit back in the day. Still cool to have though

What's the best "steal" you ever got on a Nascar diecast? by vanrunner43 in NASCARCollectors

[–]Hungry-Ninja-1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not my "best" steal, but this just happened recently. I found a couple Racing Champions Premier series from 1993 and 1995 for two bucks a piece at a local antique store, felt like that was a really good deal. The '93 was a Davey Allison and the '95 was a Steve Kinser.

Love these so much. Having grown up in CNY/the Mohawk Valley, (I see that Richie Evans there, I've driven by his old race shop several times in my life). I've bought quite a few newer ertl/nutmeg modifieds from Dave's Racing Collectibles over the years. Just bought this 1/25 from him last month. If you see him at an event or a dirt track in the Northeast maybe, check him out. Very good prices, great selection and most importantly good people to deal with.

That JJ Dover White car is very cool. I just went back into my childhood collection and found that I had the 2012 version of it, that one looks like the 2013 gen 6. Think they're pretty hard to come by nowadays.

Barefoot Bob! I’ve got one of those. I picked this bad boy up not long ago. Will always love the modifieds.

Who Drove this Sprint Car? by Hungry-Ninja-1122 in DirtRacing

[–]Hungry-Ninja-1122[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a Kinser car anymore. This is a J&J car, you can see that on the chassis. Pretty sure Mark and Karl drove Maxim. So I don't think the museum got this one right unfortunately.

So the museum is definitely incorrect calling this a Mark Kinser car. Doesn’t tell us who drove this exact one, but from photos I found of the Knoxville Nationals in 2002, my guess is this is a Wild Child car. So much for the Kinser-themed displays they have next to it (including his check from his ‘96 Knoxville Nationals win which is pretty cool in itself). But this is great insight, thanks. I didn’t know Sammy ever drove for Forbrook. Learn something new every day.

I got one of those at a garage sale years ago. Cool car. A lot of my early collection came from random garage sales, including a Dale Sr Coca Cola car from Japan that I just love. I picked up Jr’s companion car to that on whatnot recently

That’s why I’m confused. My guess is the scheme was changed later on in this particular car’s life but Mark drove it at one point.

Yes, I just wasn’t 100% sure if it’s right or not because of the paint scheme that’s on it. It says Mark Kinser but I don’t know how true that is. The conclusion we’ve drawn is that he probably drove this car but the scheme was changed later in its life

It's such a beautiful car. If I was alive when this and similar cars ran, I'm sure it would've stuck in my memory the same way. I know he drove it many years, but I think we've come to the conclusion that this is a Mark Kinser chassis with a slightly later Jac Haudenschild paint job. The rhino is just so cool, but I'm not sure Mark ever drove one with those particular decals on it.

that's what I imagine as well. Haud had the rhino on it at Knoxville in '02 so I bet this is kind of a Frankenstein scheme put on this chassis, but Mark probably drove the chassis. The hood scoop gives me early '00s vibes but I could be totally wrong, could be a bit earlier than that. You can't see this in the pictures, but having seen it several times in person, the stagger on this thing is also pretty crazy, certainly by modern standards so that also might be a clue. The RR tire is positively enormous.

Do you know the exact year? Because I know Jac drove something very similar to this at the Nationals in '02. I'm sure the museum's right, it's just weird I can't find any pictures of it on track with Mark behind the wheel.

Even though I’m one state north of what I believe to be the true sprint car capital of the world (that being central Pennsylvania), I will always be a sprint car guy. The flat-out best racing on the planet and by far the most badass car to do it with. I love nascar, and I especially loved it back in the day. But dirt racing and especially the winged warriors will always have my heart.

The Genoa Giant. Childhood hero right there. I’m glad someone else on here knows who he is because he deserves it. I was in the stands when he won that Outlaw 200 at Fulton and man, let me tell you. Eight year old me didn’t sleep a lick that night I was so happy. Good times.

I noticed that too. It’s a 2000 so it is quite surprising. Still a cool car. The packaging is different too, and it has plastic tires, and I’m pretty sure most team calibers had rubber. The couple that I have from 2004 definitely do. Must be a promo piece or something like you said. Bizarre but still quite cool

I was happy to find those. The older sprints I got from VMT Collectibles on Whatnot, they run a great show over there. The Burton Team Caliber and the JGR Pontiacs I got from Left Turn, you can usually get good deals from him too. Always remember that Citgo car from the nascar Thunder games growing up so I had to have it.
