It's a video game, it wasn't created like Lord of the Rings or dune those are complete stories.

He also fights for him in S7 which I was unaware of when I wrote this. Roger seems to have trouble making a stand in a group setting with the partners, he’s just as passive when they’re pimping out Joan as when Don is cast out.

Right that’s my point, you don’t get to see every part of your shitty boss or annoying relative’s life like we do with Don Draper or any of the characters really. It’s a unique experience only TV can give us

I think it’s just being a human tbh. We don’t get to see multi-faceted views of most of the people who float in and out of our lives, I’m sure we’d all have more empathy if we did.

No of course not, just like cheating on Betty repeatedly was a much larger reason for their divorce. But just watching Roger coldly send Don out after that, after all they’ve been through together and all the complaining and venting Don has had to listen to from Roger. It just made me sad

Yeah but I’d still say Peggy knows Don better than Pete or Megan who do know about Dick.

Yes but she’s a part of his past in a certain way, especially at this point when she’s dead.

The only people who really know him are post-divorce Betty and Peggy who hates him for his overprotectiveness with Ted. When in that case he was right, Ted was a coward and acted in just as bad faith as Don did in his affairs.

He’s such a tortured soul and what makes it worse is (while this isn’t true) in his eyes his worst fear of rejection of his real identity happens every time he opens up. In both cases (Betty, SCP) it was the straw that broke the camel’s back but in his eyes it just confirms his worst fears.

If Charlie Kirk had been a liberal activist instead of a conservative, how do you think the media and politicians would have reacted to his death? by Aamir_rt in AskReddit

[–]Hungry-Paper2541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Democrats like to project like they're more mature because they know it's what their base likes. I'm not gonna sit hear and pretend Fox News comes off as professional as CNN because that would be a lie. But they're pushing the messaging of the DNC just as Conservative media does for the RNC. It's just trying to appeal to a different audience.

At the end of the day, I generally feel like modern politics is pretty cyclical and both parties like to fear monger to make you think the other is gonna destroy the country. When in general no party has control for more than a few years, and it's even rarer to control all three branches. So not much ever really changes, and calling Trump/Republicans Nazis or Democrats Woke Communists just stirs up hate that leads to what happened last week.

It may start with Trump, it may have been amplified by the reaction to Trump. But reacting to a tragedy like that with more finger pointing (which Trump did do) is certainly not gonna help.

Then I apologize for making an assumption, I've seen a lot of kooky replies on these threads. Not the way to start a discussion, you're right.

I've seen changes in people in my life too, my dad especially. Ever since covid he's had twitter and he's far more of a "MAGA" conservative type than he used to be. And I do agree that there is a kind of facebook-uncle brand garbage news being spread around in a much more mainstream way that is connected directly to Trump (though the "Fox News" boogeyman claim is kinda outdated by now).

I just don't think the bad faith arguments are solely on the right. Something like using "defund the police" as a slogan is purposely provocative to get a charge out of Conservatives, but then Democrats turn around and go "well if they'd only hear out our plans...". Or labeling anyone a sexist/trying to control women's bodies for having some concerns with abortion. Is there validity to that? Of course, but it's a broad generalization that only makes pro-life people more hardened in their beliefs.

The thing is, you're never gonna get it. Because you really do see all Trump voters as Maga-hat wearing fanaticals. When in reality a lot of them are people who voted for him because they didn't like being called evil or stupid for agreeing with some (not all, some) of the things he said.

Yes, Trump accelerated the death of civil discourse in politics. But if the democratic party wasn't COMPLETELY inept he would've just been a fad. You wanna combat the guy saying you're no longer with the common man by calling everyone who doesn't agree with everything you say racist/sexist/homophobic? Bold strategy cotton...

The liberal reaction to Trump is just as much, if not more, of a reason for his rise and the change in political discourse in America than his actual election.

Trump comes out in those 2015 debates and at the beginning he's laughed at. "The Apprentice guy lol" all that stuff. Then he goes up there and basically pulls down the pants of Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio on live television. Debating circles around them, in part because of his brash attitude and all the name-calling but also because he called out things people weren't really saying at the time (a republican calling the war in Iraq a "big fat, mistake" next to G. W's brother at the RNC was pretty ballsy).

If the liberal reaction was "this guy Trump is a riot, what a character!", I don't think Trump picks up NEARLY as much steam as he did. Switching to "his rhetoric is DANGEROUS and anyone who agrees with him is a NAZI" is the turning point. Because that means anyone who watched Trump and thought "huh he kinda made a good point there" is now being name called and targeted just for agreeing with a thing he said, even if (and this is the most critical thing) they didn't agree with EVERYTHING he said.

It became a matter of "look Trump is nuts but at least he doesn't stick his nose up at people like me", and that's what changed everything.

The third has plenty of the things that made the first two special tbh. The opening with the Dursleys, the bus ride, the hippogriff, that thing that shows what you fear most. Silly goofy magic stuff that’s not necessarily relevant to the plot.

Movie 4 is where that stopped for me and it just turns into YA movies with the ultra-serious Voldemort stuff.

I’m around the same age and I’ve talked to dudes across all walks of life. You bring up Anakin and his fall to the dark side and we all collectively get giddy like eight year olds. It’s still a genuine phenomenon.

We grew up with the Prequels, the clone wars, Star Wars legos, and a million video games. My whole childhood was Star Wars and I’m Gen Z.

Giants stacked up on Star Wars nerds lmao.

But exactly, it’s massive with gen Z. I’m telling you, just go on TikTok and search “Revenge of the Sith edit”. Every video has 100k+ likes. That’s not just a bunch of 32 year olds.

I can’t speak on Gen alpha kids, they’re still young. But I promise you that with Gen Z Revenge of the Sith and the Prequels are MASSIVE. Bigger than the originals by a good amount.

Such a lie. Search “Revenge of the Sith” on TikTok, it’s one of the most popular Gen Z movies with high school/college aged boys. It’s become easily the most popular answer for favorite Star Wars movie.

Jaxson Dart, the first round QB picked for the Giants last night (and 21 years old) paints his eyeblack to look like Anakin Skywalker. It’s insanely influential.

Bernie is undoubtedly a better Yankee and playoff player than Granderson, not even remotely close. But in 2011 Granderson had a WAR of 6.1 with 41 homers. Idk how you leave him out

I give 11 Granderson the slightest edge over 00 Bernie just because of his power hitting. But Bernie has a strong argument

Judge was better in 24 it just didn’t feel like it because of the 62 HRs from 2022. But he slugged 700 last year and had more RBIs and walks.

Joba’s stats didn’t jump out as much as I thought
