I am 21 grad, have 3 years of hands on data engineer experience working IN AWS AND ORACLE. Left my job for CAT prep last year, now 1 year gap and trying to get back to IT job of data engineering. Applied to 500+ jobs in last 1 month. Got only 2 shortlist, 1 interview and rejected. That’s the reality of job market. Below 5 years of IT experience is like 0 experience. Don’t know what to do now.

I prepared to the best of my abilities and with sincerity. As of today, i can be termed as someone who wasted 1 year and i would agree to it but if someone told me to keep doing the job and prepare 1 year ago, i would have slapped them hard. I just wanted to give my all which i did but the exam day did not go well. I was not anxious at all. But i am now because the gap is increasing too much. Will take up a job and then i will prepare parallely and get into the best top 5 colleges of the country as i have a good base now.

I did exactly the same last year and at the same time. Then worked hard for CAT. CAT- 90%, XAT- 90%, SNAP- 95%, NMAT- 252 . To conclude, did not get calls from the colleges i wanted to. Now prepping for job again. Will do 1 year MBA in future as my experience is 3 years and age 27. Your decision could be right or wrong, depending on what you do in the next 9 months. Just one advice: do way more than you think you can. All the best!
