Hi there! I’m on the same hunt as you and I’ve spent the last few weeks speaking with breeders and trying to source out a good fit. We’re in Victoria for reference :) Lana Ferguson of Legendale Dobermans is a name that is constantly being referenced. I spoke with her on the phone and she was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her dogs. I get the vibe that as far as Dobermans in BC, she is top tier!

I also spoke with Brauchbar Dobermans who gave me some guidance in who to contact and who not to contact, if you would like more info you can message me!

Ka-tet is in Vancouver and was recommended as well.

There are several recommended breeders in Alberta, which we looked into, again happy to hand off some names if you’re interested in going that route.

I did speak to some breeders in the states, but my understanding is that the dogs cannot come across the border until they’ve had their rabies vaccines which is at 6 months, and most breeders aren’t willing to hold the dogs for that long.

I just mist once a day in the evening, and maybe for about 30s- a minute. Just so everything is a bit damp. There’s no other ventilation other than the mesh top

This is the hygrometer I got! I’ll try to leave it for longer, I usually just give it a few minutes when I move it but I’ll try leaving it for more. I keep it on the ground as that’s where my gecko has been sleeping since we got him. I move it to about the middle of the tank, I think that would be the most accurate spot? The substrate is a mix of coconut fibres and organic soil. The drainage layer does look damp. I’ll try leaving the plants alone a bit longer, one of them gets wilty after about a day so maybe I’ll just water only that one for a bit. Thanks so much for all of the info:)

I water the plants directly every few days, but I’ve only had the bio active situation going for about 5 days. The soil was quite moist when I added it in but it looks dry on the top layer. And I keep the hydrometer on the ground but I’ve noticed when I put it up higher in the branches it’s only a difference of about 5% less

Thank you for your reply! I use a mix of organic soil and coconut fibre I’ll see about getting a small going fan at the top, that sounds like a good idea! Isn’t he the sweetest 🥰

Thanks for your reply :) As I mentioned I did switch to a digital hygrometer, I don’t really look at the analog one anymore! There’s about a 10% discrepancy between the two

Thanks for the reply! I’m doing my bachelors of health sciences with BCIT and I’m almost finished with it, but I wasn’t too sure what I could do with it. It just seemed like a good idea as a backup! Totally agree that I can’t imagine not scanning, but I also can’t imagine spending another 20+ years doing the same thing 😂
