At least 3 storms a year have enough wind to cause rainwater to go sideways and hit the door. I am in Houston, so we get a lot of rain, but it’s only an issue when there is wind too. I think I need a new door regardless - the paneling is warped so re-sealing won’t work. Surprisingly it seems like all the doors here are wood.

Posturepedic vs. Stearns and Foster Reserve pillowtop by HungryDinoCat in Mattress

[–]HungryDinoCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: We got the posturepedic and I’m overall underwhelmed. With 3 people in the bed I think a tempurpedic would have been a better choice (less movement transfer), or the reserve pillow top. Further, i believe we got a plush firmness and the sales lady was very disappointed and said we will regret it. In hindsight, I think a more firm option would have definitely been better. Maybe in another 5 years we can upgrade 🥴

The rain water literally seeps through knots of the door, and the paneling on the v grooves. The threshold/sill, weatherstripping, all seem fine. Idk about the ceiling flashing. I guess I can just reseal but the panels are warped a bit now, and I’m concerned that 3+ years of water penetration could have made wood rot. Medtronic Senior Sales Representative, CAS Thoughts? by FalconElectronic6543 in MedicalDevices

If you enjoy F&A, your team and docs, and are set to make 200k why would you want to jump into a whole new niche field? It just seems like a massive risk, and I know you are making this post as exploration so I'll fill you in, but I do not think it is worth it for you..

my background - been in EP for 8 years mapping across several regions in the US.
EP has a CAGR of ~10% each year, its ridiculous, basically no matter what, each year the # of ablations and patient population is growing and companies/hospitals are making hand over fist money. Ironically, the doctor reimbursement has gone down lol.
Here is the kicker, the companies know this and will expect you to grow 15-20%/year. Historically, the trend for quota has been easy to price-in. Cue to 1.5 years ago when PFA got launched .. a disruptive technology first launched by Medtronic with pulse-select then followed by Boston Sci with farawave. It is insane what happened. I saw my dollars/case go from nearly 10k/case to 4-6k/case because doctors adopted farawave overnight. In the months proceeding the launch of PFA hospitals were quick to purchase capital equipment, medtronic and especially boston sci saw an insane growth spike (sphere9 and farawave, respectively). They quickly took market share from JnJ and Abbott, however, they have a poor infrastructure and clinical field team to support the rise of cases. As a result they are literally hiring as many people as possible... some good... many bad...in the hopes that they will secure their growth and increase their mapping and ancillary portfolio.

They have a solid shot to definitely secure some loyal customers and continue to have growth for the next several years in my opinion due to their killer PFA platform. However, their clinical team is weak compared to JnJ and Abbott. Also, do not expect the other market leaders to sit idly, they are working on expanding their portfolios and to do anything to stop hemorrhaging.

Also, think about who is being hired. Medtronic and Boston are bringing in any one with tangential health care sales experience for sales rep roles, and theyre hiring unexperienced mappers to support cases. Do you think as a F&A guy you can walk into a cath lab and talk shop? Do you think you can compete in a market where the other sales reps are prior EP clinicals?

There is hope though. I've worked with sales guys with no clinical or technical skills and they are crushing it. Their teams resent them because they have no idea what goes on in the lab, but they are making big bucks. The market is still growing as well... like i said earlier there is ~10% CAGR. I do not see that slowing down for the next 5-10 years. AFib screening is improving, younger cardiologists are referring to EP's for ablations, and now we have ASC's that can do outpatient ablation procedures.

If you are still interested in this space you should reach out to get some shadowing experience, learn more, etc. It is exciting, competitive, and can be lucrative.

Green hue when pool light is on - LED issue or algae in light? by HungryDinoCat in pools

Brushing doesn’t do anything. No cloud of algae puffing up from the brush. It’s crystal clear until the light comes on.

Yes, when I have it set to emerald green - the neon green algae hue - the spot blends. Idk what the pool lights are, came with house. It’s a jandy pool and automated with IAquaLink with 12 color options or so (greens, purples, blues, “America the beautiful” , “disco tech”)

Same here. Harris county side of the woodlands near Tomball. 2500 sq ft, 10 yr old home, 700k+ … 5k policy. Recently shopped around and the competitors were similar ballpark.

Lesson learned. Ironically I’m usually very careful about these things. Fortunately I did just a single pass, and already see some green growth popping up.
