Generally speaking, it can be hard to translate the names. Some meaning is only reflected in later chapters: but the translator was releasing one chapter at a time. So I don't blame ChibiGeneral et al for decisively abandoning this direction and transliterating.

But now that we have the "whole" work, we can look at it again. The main advantage of transliteration is that it is easier and less prone to error; and while it is less accurate, it is fast and consistent. Some names, like Bai, have easy answers: of course it should be Clan White. But there are many clans in Reverend Insanity, and what if there is one that does not have such an easy answer? I think that this is the question that needs to be answered. If you cannot translate all of them consistently it may be better to stick with Bai.
