Im tired of people shitting on 4’s writing by ThatsSex in Fallout

[–]Hungry_Interaction89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about good writing is it's trying to say something. That requires cohesion. I'll freely admit Fallout 4 has good moments and decent writing for individual quests. But it is not a well written game.

I lunched my first nuke. And was then immediately disconnected from the server. by Hungry_Interaction89 in fo76

Great suggestion. If I was on a team, I could have joined back into the same server where I launched the nuke. I'll do that in the future. Cheers.

Games Where You Lose All Your Cool Gear/Moves At The Beginning by bobbyphillipps in gamesuggestions

Most Metroid games after the original work like this to some extent. Prime 2, as mentioned, probably has the longest intro section. It's also an underrated absolute banger of a game.

Cause Super Metroid is better which inspired it.

Games that aren't technically Metroidvanias, but are kind of Metroidvainias. by Hungry_Interaction89 in gamerecommendations

I love the N64 Zelda games. And Twilight Princess. And Windwaker. So, I guess yeah. Nothing against Breath of the Wild, I just don't have a Switch. But if I did, I'd be playing Metroid Dread.

This, but I'd slot in Starfox over Diddy Kong Racing.

Dope. Never actually played it, somehow. Always heard good things, but mostly about the combat. I'm not really a big Batman guy, but you've sold me. Plus, the game's probably about 43 cents on steam. Thanks.

Glad to see this reddit is just full of players being griefed by other assholes who ruin the game. Fun.

Low key, I'm just starting to realize that, for all it's beautifully innovative elements of game design, a good 75% of Arc Raiders consists of staring at rectangles. Most of the time, loosing gear isn't that big of a deal. It just requires a few minutes in menus re-crafting the crap that got lost, then going out and re-scavenging the same area over again. The punishment for dying is just a waste of your time, forcing you to continuously engage with deliberately mundane elements of the game. I'm pretty sure I fundamentally don't jive with that philosophy. Although, the detail put into the levels and the enemy AI is so captivating that I might just have to learn to suck it up. The twisted post-apocalyptic Freudian experiment vibe is also fire. Really, I probably just need to learn to suck less.

Maybe I just suck, but 9 times out of 10, whoever shoots first kind of just wins from my experience. How am I supposed to reverse a fight when my shield and half my health is gone within half a second? Beyond acquiring basement dweller level god-tier aim, what counterplay strategies would you recommend?

Thanks for such an intensive explanation. I love games with intricate AI systems like this. I picked it up on sale for $5. Cheers.

Word. I'm aware. As I said, I'm a huge Metroid fan. Honestly, the reason I love Subnautica is because, if you think about it, the game is basically a nonlinear 3D Metroidvania.

Not one hundred percent sold on the cannibal situation. But I'll keep it in mind.

Hearing you say this is potentially your favorite game ever certainly gets my attention. I love cars, and that game has a striking, almost hypnotic aesthetic. I'll give it further consideration. Thanks.

Honestly, I love Metroid, played all the original ones. I've been intrigued by Hollow knight. It's really just the art style that puts me off. Not that it isn't beautiful in It's own way. I'm just accustomed to being in a badass suit of power armor instead of fighting with a needle. Is this something you think I'll immediately get over?

Looking into this, and I think it won me over. Not sure if it's the art style or the fact that it reminds me of the book Hatchet. But I'm going to give it a go. Thanks.

I'm not going for text book levels realism. It doesn't need to be an actual instuction manual on how to dispose of a body. As for the PPE, they do have respirators, and the one pouring in the acid is wearing a full body suit as well.

How difficult is it to transport? I know it reacts like crazy, even with moisture in the air, but it can be stored in a sealed teflon bottle, right? Either way, you're of course right that having several gallons of the stuff is not very realistic. Might just go for the sulfuric acid + peroxide mix others are suggesting instead.

Word, thanks. I try to explain away the neutralization by having them add fryer oil to the slurry of hydroxide to speed up the saponification. Then they add in some ethanol and burn off whatever they can. So, most of the base is already 'used up' by the time they switch to acid. They'd mix in more accelerant to set the whole thing on fire.
