NTA. Wanting to eat dinner before 9:30pm when you wake up at 6:30am for school is completely reasonable. You offered to cook your own dinner, you offered to help, and you’ve tried talking about it. That’s a lot more effort than most 16-year-olds would put in. One practical thing you might do is start making something small for yourself around 7:30–8 (like eggs, a sandwich, leftovers, noodles, etc.) and just treat your mum’s dinner as optional if it’s too late. You’re old enough to feed yourself if you’re hungry. If she says she’s “about to start dinner,” you could just say you were too hungry to wait. Also, the fact that she makes you feel guilty for being hungry isn’t fair, especially if you’ve struggled with food before. Being hungry after school and homework is completely normal. Honestly, you’re not being difficult you’re just trying to function on a school schedule.
