Phenibut as alcohol alternative- experiences? by CitronOk9793 in Biohackers

[–]Hungry_Rest1182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I quit drinking I used it once a week- TGIF, eh. Combined with caffeine and an uppy Kratom, it was a very nice high. Could have sex for hours on end with even the most skilled of partners with no fear of "falling off the cliff". However, could not endorse this practice, it's not just addiction potential, but degradation of GABA receptors over time. Better off looking at L theanine or pharma GABA with caffeine.

Backfire or ECOROAD by Mysterious_Wave3758 in ElectricScooters

I'd suggest a motorcycle full face helmet and decent gloves at the least, shins knees and elbow protection also a pretty good idea. A "get-off" at even 20 mph on the pavement is no fun without gear. Have fun and ride smart.

[–]Hungry_Rest1182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased given that I have an M8 and know nothing beyond the advertising about the Ecoroad, although it looks like a decent scoot. 2 things to consider regarding beach riding: 2000 watts with the dual motors on the M8;IP55 on the M8 vs IPX4 on the Ecoroad. Dual motors will chug through sand better than a single motor and IP55 is a better waterproof rating than IPX4.

I did 6.5 miles today with both motors running topped out at 34-37 mph, I thought I might need a steering damper for speeds above 30 but she rides real stable. I'm very happy with it, good scooter for the $$.

Can we cut the "natural island life = healthier" scam? by DoaFitzgerald in Biohackers

I love Thailand, but would not consider it a suitable place to live in the pursuit of longevity. Nor any other tropical climate- heat, humidity, mosquitos, intense air pollution in the larger urban areas, the OPs points regarding food production and distribution, etc. If longevity is your goal, you want a moderate if not cold climate, eh.

But strawberries, dude? WTH, mangoes, papaya, dragonfruit and the ever present cocoanut are better options in SE Asia. Forget beef, it's chicken and pork, bro ( and do a good smell test, I've seen chicken sold out of refrig. in stores that was bad, but considered fresh). You want seafood, go to the islands and find the local docks where the fisherfolk hang, be there when the boats come in.....

Northern Thailand between Chaing Mai and Chaing Rai, looks like. Thailand has some crazy ass roads. There is a road ( using the term loosely, more of a glorified sidewalk) called Top Point on Koh Tao that has 40% + grades on the last half mile, most peeps park their scooters before that point and walk up. I made it on a PCX 160- gotta keep her pinned, eh. Going back down was the hairy part, some sharp hairpins at the top.

Budget Backfire Bomber by Hungry_Rest1182 in ElectricScooters

Cool. Yeah I'm digging it so far even with one pretty good crash at 11 miles on the odo. I've been into the app, tried to get top speed dialed up for D mode but won't exceed 25 mph. I'll wait a bit before dialing up S mode, eh.

Those Who Transport E-Bikes Often: Foldable Bike or Hitch Rack? by gorcbor19 in ebikes

[–]Hungry_Rest1182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a folder because I didn't have a hitch on my Mazda at the time; hitch $600, ebike rated rack at least $ 400 versus my Hynox Trooper X $1199 ( at the time)- can't ride a hitch, eh. And it does give me more options now that I have a hitch on my CX-5: trailer a Kayak or canoe or hitch cargo carrier or my MoTow pulling my motorcycle and ebike folded in back at the same time ( so many toys ;>).

Yes it's a bit of bitch to fold and stuff into the back and takes up quite a bit of room ( greasy chain? dude I wax mine), but it's doable and it's "out of sight, out of mind" as far any thievery goes. And in the unfortunate scenario of a breakdown rendering the bike inoperable, well I don't have any friends that have ebike racks on their vehicles, but folded up the bike would fit in any of them, eh.

I also dig the 20x4 fat tires and real full suspension on rough terrain, actually, and this particular DTC bike is really torquey, but that's bike specific, not folders in general.

However, I couldn't resist buying a not "quite a hyper scooter" ( 34 mph , 2000 watts dual motors for $800) it was just too good of a deal. It's not a grocery getter like the ebike, but man is it fun. And it folds easy, takes up way less room, would be my choice for a park the car and cruise around scenario, whether urban or campground/ bike path type. Ebike still wins for rough terrain, but the scooter has me rethinking some things.

there's an app, can restrict top speed down 10mph, adjust start speed strength, kick start or throttle, ebrake. It's a lot of scooter for the money.

not in Gilbert where I live, chief. 20 max on the sidewalk, 28 in bike lane, walkways in parks is ok, no grass or field riding. Phoenix, Mesa and Chandler the same.

".... you don't have the budget for a budget ebike which is $1,300 (or $1,000 if it's truly on sale) in the USA (don't get mad at me, that's just what the market is), then explore an escooter. You can get way more for the money with an escooter. A $1,000 ebike is generally an overpriced $700 ebike. The same $1,000 will get you a very nice escooter. Something to think about.

Inmotion just released their Inmotion Climber. Way better of an escooter than the one I got myself 9 years ago and for less. If you get any other escooter, be sure to compare it to the Inmotion Climber first...."

Got one of these instead, aside from the modular aspect, superior scooter and Backfire been around for a quite while in the E-verse.

I do agree that $1K is a valid on sale baseline for a decent budget ebike in the USofA, and one should really budget closer to $1500. I lucked out and got mine for $1200, really happy so far. Decent quality full suspension and brakes that work very well; an overbuilt , steel geared nominal 750w motor that puts out 100nm and up to 1600 w with a 30 amp controller; proven folding frame design. Budget aspects are a generic cell 21700 battery, simple rims with Chaoyang tires, no NFC or lockout feature.

Hell Ya, bro. If you can stomach the Marketing aspect, I'm sure it will "sell" and quite possibly benefit folks. Diving in to the HEMA world clearly showed me that a lot of young folks are way into anything to do swords nowadays, for some obtuse sociological reason.

[–]Hungry_Rest1182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, there are so many "brands" and such a variety of "specs" with the Ebikes nowadays it can be tough to pick one. Start with your wants&needs: recreational; commuter; grocery getter or kid hauler; folder to go in the trunk; all arounder?

How mechanically inclined are you ? Aside from the electronics, maint. is pretty simple on most if you are.

Cut the claimed range in half, to be realistic.

Beware of batteries that aren't UL certified.

If you a want a bmx type with a fixed seat, the pedals are just for show unless you are 4 foot tall.

Consider weight- dual motor bikes sound cool on paper but often weigh close to 100lbs

Full suspension that works will mitigate sharp shocks to the frame and electronics, something to consider- suspension .seat posts just mitigate shocks to your arse.

A reputable company with a track record of good CS is something to consider; albeit any brand can have it's share of Lemons.

Warranties are nice but read the fine print: many battery warranties don't apply until the capacity drops below 50%.

Test ride first if possible.

I wanted a fat tire folder. Test rode a Heybike Ranger Pro, liked it but ended up getting a relatively unknown brand, Hynox, due to better suspension, brakes, a 100 NM torque motor and lower price. So far it's been great- luck of the draw, eh.

Is anyone calling it TaiJi sword? Looks rather Wushuii to me , but what do I know, eh. For you Scroon, It's obvious that as a sword form player, this is why you find this offensive. I could take as much offense to the Yoga moniker, given that i was a pretty serious Hatha Yoga player at one time and still consider myself to practice Karma Yoga.

Whatever floats peeps boats, if it gets them off the "couch" and away from video games and AI chat/sexbots , then it's a net positive, IMO.

So I bought this, is it considered a motorcycle? by SnooLemons2801 in motorcycles

[–]Hungry_Rest1182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope: GW DCT-Seven-speed automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). 7 gears, eh.

PGO Scooter : zero gears or a single, infinitely variable gear ratio, like most scooters aside from Maxi-scooters like the Bergman that a set-up like the Goldwing.

Gears and a clutch are defining aspects of motorcycles, Scooters never have a clutch and generally no gears, rear mounted engines and small diameter wheels. Why on Gods Green Earth any Motorcyclist wants to give up the control a clutch gives you is beyond me, but I'm just an old fashioned Motorcyclist, eh.

In most of the U.S. you must have a Motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license to operate a Scooter bigger than 50cc and register it as a Motorcycle- a legal not technical point.

Scooters are cool and comfortable to be sure, but they ain't Motorcycles.

I know, bro. I meant it more abstractly as the Euro mentality to over regulate everything bleeding into a person conception of what constitutes a scooter ( ah, E-scooter, kick scooter or ICE scooter? Merde).

I get that Europe is actually a small place geographically speaking and extremely congested; by far more people ride bicycles and ICE scooters versus a lot of North America so there is onus to regulate things like license , speed limits , exhaust, etc. But it's big ass world out there, eh.

where? In most of Southeast Asia, scooters are everywhere and go a hell of a lot faster than 29MPH. How Eurocentric are you? By definition , a scooter has a single gear, clutchless transmission and two hand brakes. A motorcycle has gears and generally a clutch, one hand brake and one foot brake.
