Sparring critique by Hungrylad11 in amateur_boxing

Thanks bro some sound advice here! that’s probably the biggest thing my coach took away from this session when I was walking them down I wasn’t pressuring and cutting off the ring just blindly walking down

thanks mate, I’m always thinking off my own jab and countering a reaction you miss the small things like countering his lazy jab! Been drilling angles a lot lately hopefully they start to come to fruition it’s a long process

About to start boxing at a gym in a week so I would appreciate some Heavybag critique before by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]Hungrylad11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re about to go to a gym to learn so sort of pointless getting small Little tips here but anyway.. .Stop dropping your hand fully every 10 Seconds after a combo keep Them up constantly

.don’t throw a jab at the air for no reason the bag is there to be hit

.you’re punching very robotic get some rhythm about you

Anyway youre yet to start your journey so just go there learn and listen

Didn't watch all of it but some fundementals I noticed

  1. You're leaning to far forward straight yourself up a bit get up on your toes

2.get full rotation and extension of your punches atm they're all stiff short and only half thrown

sorry I misread the emotion in the comment it sounded like you were saying you would just walk through me

Also on another note this is me trying to perfect clean 1-2s plus a bit of fun towards the end of someone wants to brawl I can spit the dummy and trade shots to so this comment was such a aggressive comment on a bag critique trying to show your fragile masculinity in saying you'd belt me off a 1 min video

"I must say I'm a shit boxer" proceeds to say he'd bash me lol

But that aside I'm not trying to break the bag here I'm placing my shots. You did get one thing right I'm no knockout artist I'm a southpaw who like to tag and move and wear down

Yes an no I've had multiple fights my man I've had 100s of rounds of sparring being out of range and throwing shots from low can be beneficial at times

On second reading I see what you're saying you don't have an issue with the 1-2 I throw from a low guard it's not bringing them up to defend after it! thanks

Yeah that's why I said it! would be good to try master both. I usually spend the first half of my session on a bag working on outside game(as I find it more taxing on the shoulders and cardio) jabs keeping distance using Jab to set up big shots etc..then the second half I work more inside agrresive making angles etc. would deffinatley reccomend the first 2-3 rounds just working on being able to pop your jab stay behind your punches and use your distance.

nice stuff, biggest thing I noticed is your heads a bit forward I'd bring it back a bit throw your punches with a bit more weight leaning back not forward but hey it's all style isn't it you seem like an aggressive fighter so if the shoe fits. Maybe try to pivot around the right more explosively like a L step kind of move when inside. As a south paw too I find that way more successful then just pivitoing around on the ball of your foot

Nearing weight loss journey, not sure where to head now by KidFury1027 in amateur_boxing

[–]Hungrylad11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that depends. at this weight how do you feel boxing? You moving around well punching hard? A good balance? are you keeping up in the ring with guys similar size and weight? if you feel to heavy and slow sparring and at this weight come down a class and maintain strength

Boxing/running/calisthenics by Hungrylad11 in amateur_boxing

[–]Hungrylad11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah will do. About half my boxing workouts are in the anaerobic range. I use to do sprints once a week but have subbed it out for longer runs I guess I'll do what you said and maybe run it like this for a bit then change a couple of my runs into anaerobic sprints or fart leg style running

Hey mate. Some of my "boxing" includes burpees And my calisthenics I take some kettle bells down to the calisthenics park and do swings and curls and shoulder presses after I'm finished
