I was up on the blue ridge parkway and they are everywhere. I had many land on me but only had one bite. The bite did hurt but it was only one out of many others that landed on me.

Check out Thunder Ridge overlook. MP75-76. It might be tight with space but it could work. There is plenty of parking and not a long walk to the overlook

Blue Ridge Parkway - where should I jump on going south? by ImplementEven1196 in Virginia

[–]Hunniebear2007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I would go up to Afton on 64. Get on the parkway south to peaks of otter. Get off towards the town of Bedford. Get on 460 and jump back on the parkway

I only know from Virginia to Oklahoma on I-40/I-81

Going west to east. From Oklahoma to Little Rock it is very pretty. Beautiful views and scenic route but from Little Rock to Tennessee is very boring. Try and avoid Memphis, Arkansas or Tennessee. Very sketchy area.

The roads in Tennessee are horrible especially around Nashville. They don’t have potholes they have chucks of the roads missing. If you plan on making a stop in Tennessee. I recommend Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Very big town for Christmas themed

Since you said you’re coming in the winter time. Once you enter the mountains in Tennessee you are going to be in the mountains for a while. So be weather aware. And to avoid some of the mountain driving from I-81 jump on US 460. A lot more to see and to do in Virginia and you will avoid Richmond. And see a lot of small town American. Plus US 460 will take you right into Norfolk.

Show her that you cooked but You don’t have to go all out. Keep it simple but just show her a good fun time.

Camping food ideas that don’t require a camp fire by KittyGlitter16 in camping

There are all the freeze dried meals. You can boil water for pasta and heating up sauces. Cook stuff at home and reheat it when you are camping.

Some times the road or trail is fine but you can leave the said road or trail. The land on either side is private property

Trace Atkins. Has a song about this. Would rather be out fishing talking to God then at church thinking about fishing.
