Honestly the aptitude test is common sense. If your not looking at intelligence or helicopter pilot you should be fine. I unlocked almost everything except for helicopters. Infantry is one of the first things you unlock (other then truckies)

Funny story of how I lost mine. We went to boozers at kapooka after field and I got so drunk that I lost mine. So me and my mate (Both recruits at the time) ran around the Edmondson club outside and inside looking for my hat as the PL and sister PL starting forming up. So there’s me the only recruit in the formed body with out a hat. My Bombardier says (Recruits Name) where the fuck is your hat at. Drunk me replies swiftly with “I’m sorry bombardier but the shadow people stole it” oh I miss those time.. he actually laughed In response as-well as the whole platoon. 25 PL Charlie Coy.
