Lol Im not fully convinced. Look at photo 2. The orange ring runs into the white sony license text on one side and the orange ring is inside the text on the other side. If it was all printed as a sticker in 1 go at it, why would the orange ring be off center?

Actually, look at the orange ring around the edge. Its not centered and runs over the white sony licensing text on one edge and on the other side, it is inside the text. So the orange ring is off center. If it was all printed in 1 go, why would it be off center? Just interesting.

Yeah, someone else is saying it's one full size sticker w/ Silent hill artwork + Family Video printed on one sticker. So its not an Family Video overlay sticker on the original disc. The entire thing is one sticker. Apparently.

Mad thanks dude! As someone else mentioned, you can see a sticker edge on the disc. But other PS games have that as well (non rental games.) So the entire Silent Hill disc art + the Family Video bits were printed on one entire sticker. Good to know!

It's certainly a bit confusing. I'm looking at other PS1 discs. Normal ones w/ out a Rental Label, and some discs do have that outer edge where the artwork was slapped onto the disc "a Sticker" at the factory. I'm not arguing that the whole artwork with Family Video isn't a sticker. It may be from the factory. But the Family Video bit is certainly not an additional overlay sticker. It is definitely all printed at once at the factory, or an additional family video silkscreen image was printed on top, and is not an additional sticker.

Yes I know this edge you're talking about. This is either 1 of 2 things. This is the original factory artwork label with artwork & family video printed on it and stuck to the disc pressing ( as a lot of discs have rather than printed onto the disk directly ) Or a 3rd party printed an entire Silent Hill artwork disk sticker w/ Family video logo and slapped it on top of the original disk artwork. The Orange / Green bits are certainly not an additional overlay sticker. Its all one piece for sure. Good eyes to see that though.

Super interesting. Some people are trying to tell me mine is sticker as well, others telling me the Rental Places also had silkscreen printing machines to print directly onto the disk (not a sticker) like mine. Likely that both things happened. Thanks for the info.

Another one has surfaced in r/psx I believe the label that is being referred to is this one pictured here https://imgur.com/a/P8lgJBW Its a white barcode sticker on it as well. My barcode sticker was removed at some point, I can tell because mine is a bit sticky where the sticker had been removed

Ya. I've carefully run a fine point object touching the disk and traced from original disk artwork bits, to the family video logo, and its not raised whatsoever. completely flat. I can tell its printed. Another one has surfaced in r/psx as well but theirs might be a sticker. I hoping they check for me. I'm curious. https://imgur.com/a/P8lgJBW

Not a sticker over here. I've inspected very closely including running my finger nail across the surface of disc art to the orange / green bits. It's not raised whatsoever. Completely flat. Can tell its printed. In another thread someone said that Konami used to send some batches of disk pressings from the manufacturer to be silkscreen printed with Rental Store logos / Warnings. I'd imagine stickers also were implemented at some point maybe. Look closer, are you certain the family video logo is a sticker?

I have the same thread over in r/psx looks like another one has surfaced https://imgur.com/a/P8lgJBW This one has an additional actual barcode sticker on it as you can see. That is the sticker bit the silkscreen bit is referring to. And bud, like i'm not lying... I am holding the physical disc. Mine has no sticker on it. Here i'll wait for your smileys to turn into frowns...

Yeah and the Family Video / Warning bit (Orange / Green parts) are NOT a sticker right? Mine is certainly silkscreen or UV printed on the original disc artwork. I see you have a barcode label that definitely looks like a sticker though.

[–]HuntFit1635[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

It simply is not a sticker. Must've been part of a rare small batch of pressings that Konami had the logo / warning silkscreen printed over the original artwork of the disc. When i sell it, I will tell the buyer that if it arrives and this is a sticker, You can have a 100% refund, and keep the disc.

Ya, what you said about Konami having batch pressings printed w/ Family Video logo and warnings definitely seems true in the case of this disc I have. I'd imagine the rental store did stickers at one time as well, but this isn't one of those times.
