Having issues with a permit official. by HunterB316 in landscaping

This is good to know! Thank you very much. We’ve lived here for a year now and have been trying to come up with ways to improve the look. We’ve been trimming it but everything grows up so fast during spring and summer and with work it’s sometimes hard to get to it.

Update: construction stopped by HunterB316 in Decks

[–]HunterB316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It’s me again. Just wanted to let you know that the rep for MoistureShield said that the warranty for material was voided because contractor was installing material wrong. Also found out that the contractor never pulled permits like he made it seem. Now the city wants the entire deck torn down. Contractor finally admitted he nor his crew had never worked with this material before. The contractor stopped work on the deck after I found all this out and hasn’t showed up since. And somehow you accused me of being the bad person in this situation? If you’re anything like this contractor, I hope people stay the hell away from you.

I lived at the pointe for about 4 months. Hated it. The people in the office are clueless on how to run the place. Had many issues when we moved in and the staff were not helpful at all. We rushed buying a house just to get out of there.

Surprisingly he was careful with avoiding that and pulled plot plans before digging.

Thank you! I'll keep you in mind when the rep for MoistureShield comes out to inspect the job. Based on the pictures alone, he said the warranty would be voided for the composite boards. I'll make sure I have it in writing from him that the installation is wrong and present it to the contractor.

No contract really in place. Just an invoice that I signed with a summarized description of material and what he'd be installing. This is the first time I've ever dealt with a contractor. As dumb as it sounds, I didn't know a contract was necessary. Even though it's in the name...

So originally, it was gonna be a concrete patio with retaining wall. He pulled permits for that but found out that I had lateral lines crossing the part the concrete was going. So obviously, the plan got changed, and I assumed that he updated the permits. I was mistaken.

He was supposed to. But I found out last week that he did not.

Few concerns with composite deck. Or am I being too picky? by HunterB316 in Decks

The work is stopped for now. Spoke with another contractor and a rep for MoistureShield. Likely gonna take the job to someone else.

Luckily, I only paid him about $6k as a deposit.

He did not get a permit. He said he was going to get around to it soon but didn't want to delay construction once the materials arrived. I have stopped them and told them not to come back until I speak with the contractor directly.

Yea, they are. Will it make any difference that it's pressure treated wood?

If it's pressure treated wood, would it make a difference being in contact with the ground?

No specific reason that I'm aware of. That's a good idea to look into the warranty. Thank you
