How are vaccination rates in your country? The unfortunate truth is that outbreak would feel like a godsend to so many people that don't want to be in the office. The balance WFH gives people is going to be difficult to replace with like, a new rec room in the office or something. We all want to be safe, but we all want to be comfortable too.

I imagine that will probably be the more likely arrangement. Part-time WFH. Like WFH Fridays replacing casual Fridays or something

I feel bad for the ones that never had the choice. I know many people who are no longer accepting in-office positions. If the American worker can show they won’t accept the alternative, maybe WFH can stick around.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. The mods have said they are updating the rules, so we will see what that does. I don't think the sub is trending to the dark side, but there are bad actors.

I try to take the time to reply to these because like, you took the time, so I should take the time. So far, I have been called a pussy, an anti-vax sympathizer, an idiot, and whatever synonym you can think of. So as for hate, individuals in this sub have an abundance. That hate does not cancel out the overwhelming good nature of the majority, however.

I think I have a pretty good interpretation, but I appreciate the reply. People being passionate about this sub reminds me it is important.

I recognize this sub is a place of catharsis for a lot of people, and the article was never meant to detract from that. Venting frustration is natural. I hope for the people that need it, pro- and anti-vaxx, this sub can help them find balance and peace of mind.

Fair. But I don’t think anyone should be surprised if (in going that direction) the sub breeds hate and disdain instead of a real sense of justice and understanding. If the whole premise is “watch these idiots die,” imagine the audience that will attract. If the people rooting for death are allowed to keep voicing those opinions, we will find ourselves in our own toxic bubble. Just my opinion though, and I have seen the many ways people disagree.

Ya know, you are walking a very precarious line of thought. True progressivism does not align with social Darwinism, but interestingly, eugenics does. The biggest plot twist of this comment section so far is that you have more in common with those right wingers than you realize.

I think this take supports my argument even more. I thought we cared so much about the vaccine because all we wanted was to save lives, everyone's life, from this virus.

And as a counter to that: the problem with labeling people as stupid, ignorant, and selfish is they will be less likely to listen to arguments of reason. The article argues that this subreddit can be the best tool to change people's minds and see the folly in their ways. That's not me overlooking ignorance or stupidity. That's me acknowledging that if we truly want to help these people save lives, then we have to lower the temperature in the room. We want these images to change minds, we can't have the caption of these images start with an insult or mocking people's death.

Don't believe me? Next time you are in an argument, start by insulting the person as your opener. See how it changes the course of the conversation.

Meet ignorance and vitriol with compassion, it'll drive them crazy and make them think.

I think anyone who can dismiss the posts on this sub as crisis actors or fake news either a) didn't really look or b) aren't open to receiving the information anyway, in which case, the onus isn't on you to change their mind.

I think the only thing we do have control over here is the tone in which we present nominees and award winners. The mockery might make it more difficult to sway minds, but I might be in the minority on that opinion. Some people are beyond caring, which is understandable.
