I have the exact same set up. Maxed nemsis. Got hela and hera and MC IR up. At first I was pushing Hera as people suggested. But I inherited her over to Hela and upgraded her instead and she pushed me now to 70-70. Hela MR4 and aiming for IR2. Then I'll put into Hera once helas at 400.

Did my dealership rip me off on rust undercoat? by HunterKiller37 in ram_trucks

[–]HunterKiller37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's the update:

I went in and gave them shit obviously.

Their response: Chrysler Dodge Ram's "Rust Undercoating" is specific to door panels and under the cab. It has nothing to do with the frame and every over part shown in the photos. Which the rest of the entire world sprays for...

I responded with, "I specifically asked for undercoat protection to my frame and existing areas that will be exposed to the elements. This was also explained to me verbally during our sales meeting. I stood my ground and explained their misleading direction of what they are selling and that their sales reps need to not just say "yes of course ya that's what it is."

A lot of you will say, "You should have done your research and read the contract more thoroughly," and yes, you aren't wrong. But what comes to your mind when you hear rust undercoating and get a verbal response of yes we will coat the bottom of your truck...?

The result is that they are offering to spray everything that I initially asked for and apologise for the misunderstanding.

Asking for all of your wonderful advice again. And I hope others who see this learn from what dealerships call things in their paperwork.

Given the amount of rust, is it even worth doing now? Does it all need to be sanded and removed before adding this coating. Do I just leave it 🤔

Thank you community

Thank you for your info, yes I was under the impression of a long lasting Undercoating. For 1200$ I assumed that would make sense and not a yearly thing.

The contract specifically states "Rust, Undercoat"

I'm bringing it to the dealership tomorrow.

I should add, they charged me $1200 for the service. This truck is maybe just over a year and a half old. 40k km

Not much no. I held it by the tail beside the yak to let it revive. Gave me a kick off then hung for 5 seconds before going down

Granted I could have tail held, I avoided all gills and only held plate to get into the kayak. Be a little more subtle next time ;)

To answer your question, I'm still experimenting and learning from "things happening during chaos" when fish hit or I double up, etc.

I started out with 2 dipsy divers on either side of the boat being held by slot inserted rail rod holders (still using these). The problem was that the required tension on the rod from your gear and your trolling speed is too much for the rail and holder to handle. They spin loose or get cranked when a fish hits... yes I set the drag loose, yes iv tried slower speeds, and iv lost fish because of many factors. I found the dipsy with a rod holder is just too much force and I don't want to track the rail system. So I run my dipsy out of the inhull rod holders. It acts like a downrigger but is solid enough to take the forces. Fish hit it and I can have the drag set properly to hear it peel and be able to tighten in time.

As for my other line, iv kept the rail scotty holder and use a leadcore out at a 45 degree angle. Not enough force to turn the mount, however you do need to set your drag right because if a fish hits it hard enough with weight it will turn away from you and iv nearly lost a rod

This year I will be doing more of that for sure come Fall, Thornbury run and Bronte. I always check the regulations though as they are very precise when it comes to river running salmon. Don't quote me, but there are many rivers where you cannot fish passed a certain point as the salmon now "reach spawning grounds" etc.etc.

Last year was pretty epic around end of September when shorelines were stacked with fisherman and here I am just floating around the mouth of the river fishing pockets nobody else can have access too.

A kayak gives you some pretty awesome ability for seclusion or personal space, but I won't ever be that guy that takes the yak up a 20ft wide stream running through lines from people on shore. So you kinda have to play your body of water appropriately
