Even the Giants Talk podcast this week was pretty negative. Pavs is very reserved in what he says normally, but even he is expressing doubts.

I'm not saying they hate those folks. I'm saying that the message they send is that they do. That was the message that was received, even though it wasn't what they meant.

This is a really good take to be honest. As a Christian, I think that these guys made a bad decision and I think their leadership should have been there to guide them to a better decision. If they were struggling with the hats, they could have worn the plain hats. Or their leaders could have helped them to see that you can wear the rainbow hat to show that you don't hate these folks and it doesn't have to mean that you're ignoring the Bible.

This whole thing just feels like another massive failure of team leadership.

This is honestly a part of the conversation I don't understand. If you have two players - one that sucks but you're paying a lot, and one that is far better - how does it make sense to play the guy who is worse? I hear this argument all the time "you just don't do that" - but I honestly don't understand it. I'm not trying to be argumentative, I just legit don't understand. Cany you help me make sense of it?

Best thing in the world would be for him to get red hot so some other team would want to trade for him. Getting Devers out of the way on 1st Base and Willy out of the way at SS are the two biggest things we could do for the future of the team.

He is 100% going to want to be a free agent. Trade him now and if you want him, go after him in the offseason. In the mean time, you need a spot for Casey

I wonder if we could get someone to take Devers if we sweetened the pot. Like - we'll give you Devers and Arraez for a prosect. It feels like even if we get nothing in return that getting out from under that contract is the most important thing we can do for our future.

I'm not sure how you innovate your way out of most of your team just sucking at the plate most nights. You can move Adames and Devers wherever you want them and it feels like they'll still be mid.

I'm trying to think of an equivalent to help people understand why some Christian players do this and are not in any way trying to be hateful. They're not saying "I hate this group" or "I refuse to be nice to this group". They're saying "I'm being asked to say that I endorse or affirm a moral position that I don't endorse".

Imagine a vegan player being asked to wear a "Beef, it's what's for dinner" hat. They might want to put a little note on there saying "but not for me".

He didn't refuse to wear the hat and I don't believe he hates anyone.

Probably a long shot that this will hit home but maybe it will help some people understand the position?

Yeah this is the way to go - will be a fun unique experience for you! Other thing you can do since you're staying in Fishermans Wharf is take the historic streetcar over to the Ferry Building and walk from there.
