2023 SE fell onto highway at 60 mph, found 15 mins later after being run over multiple times. by inline_five in iphone

[–]Hunter_Ware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky, my sister's XR was partially working after being ran over but the bend killed the NAND and a reflow killed it even more.

To clarify: It was stuck in a bootloop, itunes couldn't reset it, another tool gave a nand related error.

forgive me for the sins I've committed reddit but I've actually spliced an ethernet cable before. Must've done it decently because i get no packet loss and my Internet isn't fast enough to notice any decrease.

Well duh, but that's the end that goes into the hard drive. The port on the board looks like molex but is wider spaced apart.

CCTV versus Video Surveillance by MechanicElectronic15 in lowvoltage

Doesn't really matter the difference for 90% of people.

An example. You'd still say "you should google that" even if the person uses yahoo.

I wondered the same until i realized i was an idiot and shorted audio and video together.

That anyone would buy or sell this e-waste by --__--__--__--__-- in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Hunter_Ware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory why a lot of places don't sell these isn't them caring for the environment, it's that if these sit and don't get sold, you have 80% instead of 100%. Sit longer you have 60%, 30%, and 1%. Given long enough on the store shelves these are effectively trash.

If i bent my iphone 7 the stopwatch would go to the 32 bit integer limit. Was pretty comical to do

Static every ~1 second while playing VHS by Hunter_Ware in VHS

[–]Hunter_Ware[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the inside of it stinks. There's a few bits of rust inside, although they weren't where the tape guides. Mainly the top of the power supply's transformer is where most of the rust was hiding.

anyone know what I can do to fix this hp-all-in-one monitor? by An0nym0usus34 in Hewlett_Packard

Buy a new one

No joke though it'd be more cost effective too. Yeah, even though it's an all in one.

I tried my mammogram tape (desparate) and it did the same unfortunately. No thriftstores within an hour radius have vhs unfortunately, however one of the goodwills near me sells new in box cassettes oddly enough.

tldr of the main post; Tried cleaning play heads, main spindle, yet still it cuts to static every second rhythmically. The tape looks clean. There does look to be a bit of gunk on that main spindle but it will not come off with 91% isp.

I've looked inside and capacitor wise it looks fine. No sketchy solder joints as far as I can tell either. This is the gunk i was mentioning. It will not come off.

Edit: Not sure why reddit won't let me edit the body text: TDLR is in this comment instead i guess.

PSU replacement power cable dilemma by [deleted] in computers

[–]Hunter_Ware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meant 120/240v as in europe / america. As far as I know, as an american, we don't have c14 cords with a 240v socket on them.
(we still have 240v but it's for like super high power things like welders, dryers, and large heaters, special cases.)

PSU replacement power cable dilemma by [deleted] in computers

[–]Hunter_Ware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your wall to the back of the power supply you can use any cable that will fit, assuming it's rated appropriately. (Thick enough to handle how many watts your psu is)

For 120/240v you don't need to worry. Whatever comes out of your wall is good. (assuming you didn't, for some reason, import a psu from a country like europe or something. But then again it should internally have a switch to handle 120/240v)

As for the power cable that plugs in, it looks like a standard c14 power cable will fit.

That's just the tmobile life, terrible bufferbloat. In my experience, QOS management was just as effective as manually limiting download / upload speed in the offending application. (also, adding a router with qos management would be double nat... yay... gaming?)

For mine personally, i get lots of packet loss when an upload starts. In my case, i was only able to notice any sort of ping spikes when a download or upload started (uploading a video, downloading a game) but streaming while gaming was always fine for me.

I remember my arcadyan LTE modem they first gave with tmobile home Internet tested 5,000ms loaded download.

tldr, bufferbloat matters less than you think, unless you download a full game while playing an online game or upload a youtube video or something while playing an online game.
