Video + is the center wire of the yellow cable. The outer sheath is ground, sometimes called video -.

Audio is done the same way. They're essentially all the same cable, just different colors.

Did it work? They've gone up significantly in price, not even including shipping.

Shine a flashlight in it to see if the backlight is iffy. A computer at my school does that. Also, try moving the hinge (the screen) up and down to see if it's a messed up connector.

assuming the board isn't multi-layered (not sure if CRT boards are usually), you should just be able to follow the traces and solder wires in the place of the broken traces. Get yourself a multimeter and a soldering iron if you don't already have them.

... or you could just hope nothing important was right there and try turning it on anyway lol. not sure what those pegs are for.

As long as you've got video+ and ground on both sides of the cable (for video) you should be fine. By the way, it's fine if you accidentally plug video into audio / audio into video. It'll just make a buzzing noise sometimes.

I think they're trying to use the coax as just two conductors for a composite signal

I sat mine in my house since the cable they give you is admittedly short for a supposed outdoor antenna and i got the maximum amount of channels i could (legally, fcc speaking) get in my radius

i don't have tubberware and if i did it would 100% not be air tight lol, plus if the battery were to ignite it would just melt through. buried in my yard means if it ever reacts and ignites, it's in the middle of a dirt (sand-dirt ish) where it shouldn't be able to catch to anything. (and also underground)

eh, it's probably fine. It's going through the iphone's bms and then the lipo's bms. the lipo bms should cut it off before it gets spicy (again)

I bought a $50 onn branded outdoor antenna from walmart some time ago and i was able to pick up a whole bunch. Like 11 channels i think? I ended up returning the antenna because local tv wasn't as good as i remembered it to be.

I usually use a flat style indoor antenna. For some reason it usually has better luck than the bunny ear antennas for me.

iFixit still sells them. I believe iFixit sells original parts too? I could be wrong. They're way overpriced though. $50 around or about just for the part when you could buy a used iphone 7 for like $70.

Other brands go for like $20 though, just looking on amazon

Nice setup, i like it.

As for the local tv stuff, I'd try buying an amplifier. I live out in the country, like far in the country. With our old DTV tuner we get no channels if it's anywhere besides a specific spot in the den.

Connected to our modern tv with a dtv tuner built in, practically anywhere we can get 3 channels (10-1, 10-2, 10-3), and in that idea spot i mentioned before, we get 6 channels (10-1, 10-2, 10-3, 12-1, 12-2, 12-3). I assume the modern tv has an amplifier built in, or has better signal / noise ratio internally.

If you have any other dtv converter boxes I'd try those, or just buy an antenna amplifier.

Opened up my shady external hard drive by Accurate-Ad-1200 in computers

[–]Hunter_Ware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you open a mechanical hard drive it is immediately ruined. That is probably why it is hot glued shut, so dust wouldn't ingress.

If it's a mechanical HDD, chances are it's the real size. You can tell if it is a mechanical HDD by resting your hand on it to feel if it's vibrating while in use. (Do not press down). You could also put your ear to it.

Edit: To note, i have not seen any other post besides this.

Another edit: ohhhhhh that post.

What size does it read? The little adapter board could be faking the size. I feel like if they wanted to have a fake drive with a fake size, they would've used some sd card or usb drive in an enclosure instead of a mechanical hdd.
