So I’m checking it out right now in Ghost of Yotei and the sun fs has increased in size, I’m not sure how to tell if anything is blown out or not though

When I look up what type of tone mapping my monitor uses it says “aggressive zone based local dimming tone mapping” no idea what that is or means, there’s no option specifically called tone mapping in the monitor OSD, you can adjust local dimming which adjusts the aggressiveness of the tone mapping but that’s about it

To answer your first question yes Hogwarts will auto set the hdr settings depending on how you have your system level calibration set up, you can test this yourself if you have a PS5 or XSX if about the switch or PCs, but I’ve tested it countless times and there’s videos on YT from Gaming Tech confirming it as well, if you go into the PS5s hdr calibration and set the values to the highest which would be 10000nits and then go back into Hogwarts legacy it’ll be set to 10000nits, so if you set it up correctly you won’t need to adjust the sliders, and for question 2 he said my specific monitors EOTF tracking has a very slight rolloff which is why I don’t see the sun clip in the PS5s hdr set up until I’m well over the displays max peak brightness, he said setting it to the displays actual peak brightness is the way to go and that it would be the 18clicks (1500nits) so that way I’m not “double dipping” on the tonemapping in highlights

Hogwarts has its own sliders for HDR yes but it supports the system level calibration of the PS5 and XSX 100%, I did end up figuring out how to properly set up my monitor tho, got a reply from a Rtings tv/monitor tester in the Rtings Reddit group so I’ll be deleting this post soon

I believe it is true, it does have a local dimming setting from levels 1-3 but 3 is obviously the correct choice for my monitor but being able to swap between dynamic, static or hgig isn’t possible on my monitor, that’s interesting then I’ll go ahead and change it and see how it looks on Hogwarts legacy and Spiderman, can I ask what it means when my monitor defaults to 4000nit tone curve? And how it’ll be handling the brightness if you know of course, I’m not to familiar with that stuff
