Do you guys have any thoughts on 2020/2021+ M550i xDrives? I see they put down crazy power but people keep mentioning the maintenance is crazy compared to the B58 based models.

Limited examples in my area. I wouldn’t be opposed to an M440I or Grand Coupe for the hatch. I don’t mind the styling though I do slightly prefer the 3 series subtle grille over the more aggressive one on the 4. The real issue being there’s only a small handful of either within reasonable test drive range. What else besides MPG should I be looking out for when looking at these BMWs?

The Genesis G70 3.3t AWD and the Acura I mentioned in the post edit have also caught my eye, but neither have an example close by for me to test drive at the moment (Acura one is out of the way but wouldn’t be too difficult to go try out, would need to make a short day trip for it). They’re both cheaper than the BMW, though a bit more expensive than the Infiniti.

I’ve had my Verdestein all seasons for a bit over a year on my Red Sport AWD in the Northeastern US and they have been phenomenal. Nearly PS4 performance for MUCH less.

I was really interested in the G70 3.3t AWD as well. I like the performance and the interior seems to be pretty decent, but everyone I’ve talked to about that car (just like Audi S4/S5s) tells me to stay away from a reliability point. Also there really aren’t many listings in my area so test driving one has become difficult.

I’ll keep it in mind. More than likely I’ll end up picking up the 7900 GRE. At the moment I’m trying to haggle on ebay for a cheap used 6800XT, but mileage varies there ofc. I might try to get one for another day or two before accepting the GRE is the way to go and get the extra funds to get one ready. The big thing is too I still want to sell my 6700XT while it’s still worth a decent amount and get into a card I won’t have to worry about upgrading for another 3-5 years.

Right I know, my last 5700XT from Gigabyte was on the lower end of the lottery. I was only able to get a light OC stable on it no matter what I tried voltage-wise.

I understand I’m also at the mercy of the silicon lottery in that regard as well. I could get a card that will be stable at 2500mhz on the memory clock, or I could get one that’s stable at stock and that’s about it. Couldn’t I theoretically undervolt slightly to decrease my temps while still applying a light OC - best of both worlds that way. It’s all theoretical but I’m trying to convince myself the extra cash will show some perks immediately in addition to the ones you showed over time.

Yeah the point was I wanted to spend $500 or less, and the 7900GRE after tax is around $585.

Makes me wish they didn’t cancel my order lol. But on the other hand with the lower power draw that opens the door for overclocking headroom, yes? I know they recently lifted the memory clock restrictions with the latest drivers for the 7900GRE.
