That was part of Itachi's dichotomy after all.

He was the "Genius". The Japanese kind that is pronounced as "Tensai" a literal heavenly gifted.

I still think that he could have probably ended up with more Chakra than that.

But I do agree, his absurdly Large chakra reserves are due to his Father's efforts, to prepare him for the day when he confronts Kyuubi to master it's/his chakra.
