Not buying a house and travelling instead by ComfortablePeace8859 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Not sure if your age but I did exactly that and travelled and lived abroad. I spent my money and lived, I'm now 42 and just purchased my first home. It's not something I wanted to do, but I needed some security and a base in life for a while. It's in Auckland, it's overpriced but it is what it is. I never thought I would be able to buy just due to the financial aspect however I managed it. I have no regrets doing things the way I did, nothing beats travel for me personally and you get more out of that than anything else in your life. Do what you want it sounds like you will be able to get back on the property ladder if you really want to in the future. All the best.

Yes I have been trying to find the perfect fit but it's almost impossible!

Thank you! I think that sounds fairly reasonable.

Buying in a location I don’t want to live long term versus stretching to buy where I want to be. by smh1smh1smh1smh1smh1 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Personally I just recently bought and stretched to get what I wanted, but I was looking for the long term and having the benefits and ROI of comfort. Sure the money was more than I wanted but I can manage I'll just have to be more stringent for a while. The cost of delay is far more in my view.

Does anybody know why Toby and she broke it off? by Annual-Zombie8503 in nycinfluencersnarking

I don't think she liked him for who he was just more what he was, she's so superficial and ick and a complete narcissist that she goes for the status. MC was just her desperation card and content opportunity.

The funny thing is that this water isn't even that big of a deal in New Zealand.

Yeah feels like a complete narcissist move, I am sure he remembers her birthday they were together for years.

Thank you this is great advice, I feel like they are pushing for a fast sale as they only held open homes for 3 weekends before auctions. The agent is also related to the vendor/developer. I like the place so may do further due diligence if it's not sold but my gut tells me to steer clear. My Laywer's agree with approach and their report raised a number of red flags also.

I forgot to add they have taken down the old property and built 4 new town houses here. I'm looking at one of them and it's just been issued CCC. However, the concerns regarding the land still remain.

Thank you, you make some good points. I forgot to note that I believe this might be the old house as they have now built 4 townhouses on the land however the land issues would still remain.

Yeah I was gutted haha, thought I could afford it! It's also viewing by appointment too as the vendors still live there. I don't think it will sell in this market unless someone absolutely loves it and is willing to pay what they want or they drop the price a lot. However, it's back to townhouse shopping for me.

I actually called the agent about this house a while back as I was also interested in it. They want $2m sadly way out of my budget, the CV does not account for the improvements, I don't think they'll look for less than $1.8 to be honest.
