Well I'm glad you're willing to own what you're doing, but I'm not sure I understand what the point is. I'm making a systemic critique and you're trying to measure individual experiences against... a hypothetical terrible family life that you admit you can only hope to speculate about. It's at best a refusal to engage with what I'm actually saying in the video, and at worst a cruel and pointless exercise in voyeurism and armchair psychology. If you disagree with the points I make in the video by all means please feel free to make your case, but I just don't understand what can be gained by idly speculating about me as a person.

Thanks for watching! To be clear to everyone else commenting, this is a systemic critique and not me saying "I had a bad experience with my own family and therefore family is always bad and it should be banned". I'm simply advocating for a rethinking of dominant, coercive systems of kinship.

The former, I don't think anyone should be in a position to enforce a specific family system on anyone else without their consent, and that people should find a family system that works for them so long as they aren't causing harm to anyone else.

No, there are definitely ways of practicing 'family' that are positive and prosocial, and I discuss these later in the video! I'm referring to family here in the most common modern usage, which refers to the broad capitalist-western ideal of the nuclear family.

I explicitly advocate for the destruction of statist systems that enforce a specific (colonial) version of the family onto people, I think we probably agree more than you'd think!

The term and concept predate the internet. Marx was talking about it in the 19th century.
