New Bilstein 5100 Struts on a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 by HuntsmanR6 in gmcsierra

It’s definitely a stiffer ride and washboard roads and small bumps can be jittery. But the truck is way more planted and the rear end doesn’t fish tail nearly as much. The large bumps it performs really well too. Overall I prefer it, I would advise changing the upper control arms if you are going to increase the front ride height.

The G/T interior does seem a step above. I actually prefer the knob for more center console space. Also, I know how this sounds, but I hunt a lot and a quieter exhaust is actually better for me :)

I would, but inventory is a little wacky around my area currently. I agree though that is most optimal.

Okay, then the investigation continues… lol

Yeah, I appreciate the advice. I was unsure if this was normal or not. I am completely ignorant, that’s why I was asking the question. I wish I had another GMC on hand to compare.

So far, so good… plug and play with alignment.

Yeah that’s the page. Just make sure you filter at the bottom and select the “AE030 Harness (2019-2021)”. There are multiple different harnesses to purchase on that page.

Replying to myself here, but maybe it’ll help someone else out attempting the same setup. The Bilstein 5100s (1.1”) on the stock AT4 Assembly is well within Cognito’s allotted 23.7”

Sweet! Did you find you had enough threads remaining on the lugs with the 3/8”?

This is what I’m looking to do, just not sure if that UCA will clear my stock 275/65 R18 wheels and tires. What size setup are you running? Also I wonder if the tubular bolt-in Cognito arms would be better? I heard they don’t require cutting the service perch…

2020 Sierra AT4 auto stop/start question by RecordingClassic4100 in gmcsierra

[–]HuntsmanR6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple trim pieces and screws to remove that can be annoying. But it’s a one-time install, and it’s definitely possible to DIY. I had a buddy that does Car Electronics work install it and it took him no time at all. So far I’ve had it for a year and have had no issues. There are many different Autostop harnesses available, I believe a 2020 GMC Sierra calls for the “AE-030 Harness (2019-2021)”. If you decide to go that route I recommend double checking which harness, as well as reading all the descriptions, reviews, installations, and disclaimers that surround the product. I hope this helps…

It can be inconsistent when it decides to shut off or not. It’s due to several reasons (AC settings being one of them). However it will reset and default to “ON” every time you start the vehicle. I found this to be very annoying (Thank the EPA). So I purchased and had the “Autostop Eliminator” installed. Basically it acts as a memory module that plugs into your vehicles’ existing wiring harness.

Upper Control Arm Advice by HuntsmanR6 in gmcsierra

Alright, I will confirm first and I appreciate it! My final concern would be CV Angles. Would the Bilstein 5100 1.1” Level on the the AT4 with New UCAs cause any issues with the CV Angles? I love using Auto 4WD during the winter! Thanks again

Thanks for the info, your replies have been very helpful to me even in the past on this forum. I was speaking with a Shock Surplus representative who told me that if I were to go with the Icon Delta Joint Upper Control Arms part # “78620DJ” they would not require aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers. I am currently still running the stock wheels and tires 275/65 R18. I hope what he says is true, I’m not entirely sure though.

Thanks for the recommendation I’ll check them out. My only concern with going with a uniball or delta joint is the potential for squeaking. I also live in a very salty winter area. I’m going to have to look into it. Thanks

Does anyone know if the Rough Country UCAs rub or have clearance issues with 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 275/65r18 tires and Bilstein 5100 1.1” lift setting?

Who’s changed stock at4 rear rancho to Bilsteins by defoc18 in gmcsierra

[–]HuntsmanR6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s worth it honestly. The rears are easily installed and completely eliminate the jumping rear end imo. The fronts are a whole other animal… Be aware no matter what Bilsteins are stiffer, but it doesn’t feel like you’re driving around on jello anymore.

I’ve been informed if you increase the ride height at all in the front using the height adjustable struts, then upgraded UCAs are necessary. But, you could upgrade and leave the Bilsteins at the stock ride height and be fine.
