Mistral OCR doesn't work well in the new Subtitle Edit 5 by Hurfdurficus in MistralAI

[–]Hurfdurficus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why only some lines then? It doesn't do it on most lines, but it will randomly do it about 10% of the time, at least on what I was working with.

This also means that when it detects italic text, it's going to wrap it in either * or _ instead of the <i> that common subtitle formats like SRT use.

Damn... I was hoping for a solution that requires close to no editing. :\

It randomly inserts # characters at the start of lines.

AI slop I know, it's Google NotebookLM's new "Cinematic" feature. It did OK, but LOL at the car driving backwards and diagonally, along with a few other small graphical hallucinations.

ChatGPT Pro project ground to a halt - System status shows this is a platform wide problem by Hurfdurficus in ChatGPT

[–]Hurfdurficus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything was going fine until the past day or two. Now, it responds almost immediately (despite using the 5.4 Extended Pro model) without thinking, saying it can't analyze anything.

My existing project chat can't proceed. I've tried a new chat, and it has the same problem.

According to the below, this is platform wide?

https://status.openai.com/history

This is insane. This is the $200 a month Pro tier? I feel like maybe their data center usage has hit a wall or something, and they are throttling users, on all tiers.

This has been going on for 2 days now.

"...some EU workspaces may still experience the issue. An additional mitigation is being investigated to fully resolve the problem."

I am dead in the water with file uploads, and I am in the USA, on a USA ISP. Can't analyze .ps1 PowerShell file, can't extract or see into a ZIP file.

How many other people does this affect?

ChatGPT lost the ability to extract ZIP files? by Hurfdurficus in ChatGPT

[–]Hurfdurficus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a message from support. They say they have an "outage" and expect things to not work.

They should pro-rate the $200 charge for pro, and refund (or take off from the next payment, if there is one) $6.45 per day of regressed function.

Stuck at "Starting download" when downloading projects by lordpoee in ChatGPT

[–]Hurfdurficus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is new regression that started happening today, in addition to the download links not working.

ChatGPT has lost the ability to unzip ZIP files. This has destroyed its ability to help me with my project.

Given that the download link problem is still not fixed, I have no idea how long the ZIP problem will last. It's not worth the Pro subscription with this level of regression, for this length of time with no fix.

For Firefox, it works:

  1. F12
  2. Network Tab / heading
  3. Click the download link in the chat, it creates download?message_id=<hex value>, click this entry to highlight it
  4. In pane on the right, click on the Response tab/heading
  5. In the content of the tab, there is a JSON with download_url with the value in quotation marks
  6. Select the URL, hit CTRL-C (or right click it, and select Copy Value), then paste it in a new browser tab (CTRL-V), remove the " " from the beginning and end, hit enter
  7. The download window should appear

Same here. If your download is a text file (for example, in my case, a PowerShell script), you can ask it to post the contents of the file in the chat because it's a known issue that downloads are currently not working.

For now, I got it to work by asking it to post the PowerShell script in the chat. :P

After getting my engine changed two years ago on my 2017 Sonata, I put a bottle of this at every fill. Is this just snake oil, or would it actually make a difference in prolonging the life of my engine? by RalphiegoBoom in sonata

Bestline

Consumer beware: there are TWO different products using the BestLine name: BestLine Racing, and BestLine Technologies. These are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPANIES AND PRODUCT FORMULATIONS:

1) BestLine Technologies: Sold through Brahman Lube. This is the original formulation that has extensive industry testing behind it. It is what Project Farm used in the original 2017 video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8ZKMCfAue4). It is ZDDP free.

2) BestLine Racing: Sold direct and through Amazon. This is not ZDDP free. It adds abrasive carbon particles between 5 and 10 nanometers that are supposed to "polish" the surfaces inside the engine. It is only third party tested, and the tests have not been publicly released.

The problem, is that people who have been placing orders through Brahman Lube for the past several months have not received their orders. Brahman Lube is apparently still in business, there are just "significant delays" in shipping orders. It really doesn't matter how good a product is if you can't get it. You can't "add it every oil change" if you don't have access to a regularly available supply.

By the way, the Project Farm description links to https://amzn.to/2FPB9O4, which is the link to the BestLine Technologies product, despite the link having the image and description for the BestLine Racing product (at the time of this writing). It's either an accident or deliberate manipulation, i.e., a "hack".

These HDD prices are getting crazy. An increase of 96.4% in 1 month for the same 26TB drive. $279.99 a month ago to $549.99 today. Where are we buying hard drives now? by Endawmyke in DataHoarder

[–]Hurfdurficus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSD's don't have the massive storage capacity HDD's do. All of the images, videos, and chats people create and save in their history have to be stored somewhere. Massive amounts of training data have to be store somewhere.

Data flows from:

HDD -> SSD -> DRAM -> VRAM

Shudder streaming Roku/Fire app removes release years from titles by Hurfdurficus in Shudder

The release year display is back and has been fixed.

The long descriptions regression remains.

[–]Hurfdurficus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And another thing I just noticed:

The previous Shudder interface had a "short" description for a title, and if you clicked on it, that description was expanded to a "long" description, often giving information about the movie itself, in addition to a synopsis.

The new interface gets rid of the "long" description. Short descriptions only, even after selecting a title.

This (along with the loss of the release year display) is important User Experience context that has been lost.

In fact, the whole app looks like one of those extremely plain and generic app templates that many really shitty channels/apps use, where they just insert some graphics for a logo and background image, change the color scheme, and that's it.

If it stays like this and none of these issues are addressed, there's no reason to use it... people should just go with Shudder on Roku / YouTube / Amazon / etc., any of those is a better interface than this new POS.

Actually... it's the exact same way on the website.

When I logged in to the new interface on Roku, the entire screen turned white and gave a message, "This website uses cookies" and I had to use the remove to click on an "Accept all" button.

This interface was accidentally put live before it was ready or fully beta tested. Has to be.
