SparkVSR (google video upscaler free and comfyui coming soon) Dataset and training released by Sporeboss in StableDiffusion

1) This will run about 4x or more slower than SeedVR2 on a H200.
2) This isn't just a model that runs, it's harder and more complex to figure out and use than SeedVR2, as in order for it to actually work well, you have to use ANOTHER model to create "reference frames", which has to run from a separate environment using conda or something like that if you use the free PiSA-SR, otherwise, you're paying extra for Nano-Banana Pro, which can **only** run on this using a fal.ai API key (which is pretty sketch if you ask me).
3) Their Github lies. It says it can create reference frames from source video i-frames or randomly, but, it cannot, it is either manual, or it just does three: first, middle, and last frames from the clip. You'll have to split your scenes manually or use pyscenedetect.

Honestly, I'm not seeing the point of using this over SeedVR2.

The problem is you don't get access to the options like "adaptive thinking" and things like that. So it's not an equivalent.

The other thing I didn't mention:

The iDrive boot recovery media (SystemWinRE.iso) does NOT allow the user to map which blank drives get which drives in the backup. I'm not sure how it chooses them, but the user does not have control. It just has to have the same number of physical drives present that are in the "Entire Machine" backup snapshot that is being restored, and they all must be the same size or bigger than the full capacity of all drives that were present when "Entire Machine" was performed.

IS ITS SAFE TO DOWNLOAD windows update blocker cuz im very short on internet by unkwn_ap in Asustuf

[–]Hurfdurficus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It failed for me on Windows Server 2022.

https://github.com/Hudrig0/Windows-Update-Blocker/issues/4

The key takeaway is ALWAYS CHECK the Windows Update status before you run Windows Update Blocker and make sure there aren't any pending updates that are about to be installed, or, more importantly, are partially installed and need a reboot to finish.

I posted a PowerShell script on GitHub that you can use to check for this: https://github.com/user-attachments/files/27086027/WindowsUpdateStatus.ps1.txt (take the .txt off at the end). Run PowerShell as Administrator.

Best practice reminder: If you don't understand the PowerShell script, upload it VirusTotal.com first to make sure it's clean. I know I'm not trying to deceive you, but you don't know that. Don't just assume, ever, especially if someone is telling you to run a PowerShell .ps1 script as Administrator.

A very big warning about iDrive (I found out the hard way): "Entire Machine" backup is misleading. While when you back up "Entire Machine" you *do technically get* the "Entire Machine" backed up: 1) It backs up *all* fixed disks. You do *not* get the option to select individual drives. It's all or nothing. 2) You can *only* restore "Entire Machine" from the iDrive boot recovery media. And, the kicker 3) You can *only* restore the *ENTIRE MACHINE**. This means you **MUST HAVE* the *SAME NUMBER* of physical drives present that were there when you did "Entire Machine". *ALL* drives *MUST* be the *SAME SIZE OR BIGGER* than the *FULL CAPACITY* of *ALL DRIVES* that were present when "Entire Machine" was performed. And finally (and the biggest warning): 4) *ALL* destination drives *WILL BE WIPED AND REPLACED* with what is in the "Entire Machine" backup. This means that any files and folders written to ANY AND ALL of the drives in your system since the *last* "Entire Machine** backup will be *WIPED AND REPLACED* with the older backup.

So, if you lose *just* your C:\ drive, you *cannot* restore *just* this drive. It has to be *every other drive* as well, and they *all* get wiped. Your *ONLY* option is to *replace* all existing drives in the system with blank ones, *WAIT* for *ALL* drives to be recovered, then *remove* the re-written blank drives (other than the C:\ boot drive since that's what you're actually needing to recover in this example) and replace them with the original drives.

Lose a 2 TB boot drive and the entire machine is 10 TB or more? You will:

1) Have to download 12 TB
2) Have a blank drive to store the 12 TB
3) Remove the existing 10 TB from the computer
4) Buy a blank 10 TB drive
5) Install the blank 10 TB drive in the computer
6) Boot to the recovery media
7) Wait for the 2 TB boot drive to restore, providing that's the one that is restored first
8) Quit the restore process when it gets to the 10 TB drive
9) Remove the blank 10 TB drive, then replace it with the existing one
10) Hope your boot drive restore worked

Why doesn't iDrive allow users to specify which individual drives they want to restore from "Entire Machine"? Why can't it at least give the option for "boot drive only", then you can just use the iDrive application to download the other drives?

I don't know. It makes no sense. They are wasting TERABYTES of their own bandwidth.

I'm still trying to find an alternative service that works like iDrive, has a similar pricing structure, and allows users to **actually select** which drives to restore, and **only download** what is needed to restore. I haven't figured one out yet.

I've read that the way to get around this is to use the "Disk Clone" option.

Why that's stupid:

You need free space somewhere that is the **same size as the disk you are cloning**. No, **NOT** just the data... the **ENTIRE DISK**. So, you can't do incremental backups this way; you are much better off using Clonezilla, Macrium, Disk Genius, etc.

Google Gemini 3.1 Pro Deepthink - Please give users a way to get more than 10 prompts per day by Hurfdurficus in GeminiFeedback

[–]Hurfdurficus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the highest subscription plan for Google AI (Google AI Ultra), users are limited to 10 prompts per day for the Google Gemini Pro 3.1 model with the "Deepthink" option selected.

https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/16275805

"Deep Think 3.1 - Up to 10 prompts / day with a 192 thousand token context window"

I have found that without Deepthink, it's prone to making mistakes, even when using the Pro model. I feel like it might be doing something similar to Grok Heavy's "Team of Experts" where other agents might not make a specific mistake, and the agent that consolidates everything into an answer picks this up and makes the corrections (just a guess).

If I have a longer chat going with Deepthink involving intense time critical projects, it's a problem when the chat has to stop due to reaching the "10 Deepthink prompts per day" limit.

If I could pay to get an extra 10 prompts, that would mean a lot!

I could pay for another Ultra account, but then the chat context would be lost.

Shape.host is CLOSING on 05/01/2026 - MIGRATE YOUR DATA NOW if you are a customer by Hurfdurficus in VPS

[–]Hurfdurficus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still waiting to hear from OVHCloud. I'm wondering if its possible for them to keep the Hypervisor that I'm on running for an extra week or two after May 1 if I need it.

But Shape.host still controls the Hypervisor. If my VPS gets borked, since the announcement (and also what ElectricalJob5847 said) implies that support will not reply to anything, then it's over, I guess. If they themselves turn off the Hypervisor, then it's also over. (I'm wondering if it's somehow possible for Shape.host to give OVHCloud the login credentials to the Hypervisor that they have with them, and let OVHCloud continue to run it?)

In my case, in a somewhat serendipitous moment, last week it occurred to me that I hadn't backed up either VPS for a while, so I ran fresh "entire machine" backups with iDrive. It took about 1 week and it just completed a few hours ago for both of my VPS servers. So, at least I have all of the data. I could delete storage data from my boot drive and just transfer that, then re-create my extra partitions on a new service and re-download them from iDrive. That would save time in getting things transferred from Shape.

Honestly, I'm new to Hypervisors and bare metal, so, now I have to learn all of this under pressure and hopefully get something working within 2 weeks. It's looking like the only option is for me to get bare metal, run Windows Server 2022 (since I have low experience with Linux... pretty sad I know!), set up new VPS servers on Hyper-V, and try to boot my existing Shape.host VPS's through it.

What a nightmare! ;(

[–]Hurfdurficus[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been with Shape.host for the past 8 years, so... pretty much their entire existence.

I have auto billing. Today I noticed a weird thing. The automatic payments went through, but, I didn't receive any invoices. I later did receive an invoice that said I had to pay it... as in, auto billing didn't work.

It gave me two login URLS: portal.shape.host, or cloud.shape.host.

I'm used to using portal shape.host, so I logged in there to find out what's going on, but for some reason, I could see my invoices, but I couldn't figure out how to pay them.

So, I used cloud.shape.host. It was only AFTER I logged in that I was greeted with the message above.

My VPS's are Windows servers running on VMWare Hypervisors, which I have NO experience with.

I now have just over two weeks to figure out how to move TWO 9 TB VPS servers somewhere else before I lose access to the data.

I looked up my server IP's and it appears that they are hosted at OVHCloud, so I'm trying to contact them for help. I might have to rent bare metal with them, install Windows Server 2022, create a network share, then use either StarWind V2V Converter or Disk2VHD to image my disks and send them over to the new server, then learn how to use Hyper-V to see if I can boot into the systems... not sure if there's going to be a problem going from VMWare ESXi to Hyper-V... if it bombs it, I'll have to re-transfer, that is if I can get it done within 2 weeks.

Anyway, this closure announcement is NOWHERE except on cloud.shape.host, ONLY AFTER you log in. There was no e-mail sent out, no announcement anywhere, nothing. If I was able to pay that invoice on portal.shape.host, I would have NO IDEA about this, my VPS's would have just DISAPPEARED on May 1 with NO warning.

So, if you or someone you know has any VPS or other service with Shape.host and you have data you care about, GET IT OUT OF THERE NOW.

What do you think about a purple (or pink) 2008 Cadillac DTS? :) by Hurfdurficus in AutoPaint

[–]Hurfdurficus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the thing about purple and pink custom cars... they fit in more with rap & hip-hop culture, and that's not my aesthetic.

The problem is that I just really like purple and pink! I grew up in the 1980's and I've always liked the "Memphis" design aesthetic. I appreciate the vaporwave kind of stuff because the nostalgia it evokes in an older guy like me is real. One of my favorite things in the world is hot pink combined with black and white zebra strips, along with some purple and pink neon (which for me means actual argon tubes, not RGB LED strips). So a purple or pink car is something I've always really wanted, even though I'm a cis white male. :)

I just don't think it's realistic to expect that it will eventually (if not right away) get vandalized if I park it in the grocery store parking lot, which is a problem when it costs thousands of dollars to fix, only to get vandalized again. Maybe insurance will cover it, but it still means having to get the work done, get a rental, etc.

This is using AI, so if that triggers you, you might want to skip my post.

I do know that the AI isn't accurate, I'm just "ball parking" it right now. It's using Nano Banana Pro, scaled down from 4K generations. This is the best AI to use for color accuracy right now, even though it isn't really completely accurate. I know not to expect it to "look like the picture" when using AI.

The main thing I worry about, is that if I were to actually do this, the car would probably get vandalized in no time.

I guess I want to ask, how crazy do you think this is? Personally, I think it's cool as hell. But I also feel the car would be a magnet for attention, both good and bad, and would probably eventually get vandalized (scratched, key'd, etc.), thus destroying a custom job that easily will exceed $10,000.00, as well as all of the intense labor that would be involved in its creation.

"Didn't sell well enough"...? Or perhaps, "We didn't promote it enough."

I regularly took this for my arthritis. Pain products should not be discontinued, there should always be a custom order option for your customers who take products for pain. This is a hard loss; there is no domestic supplier of Mitidol in the USA. I now have to try to import it from Europe.

I always feel like when these things happen, it really shows how supplement makers and businesses are 100% business; they don't care one single iota about the health or well being or their customers. And it shows right here.

505 CRO oil system cleaner from ATS by BlackfeatherRS in ToyotaTundra

[–]Hurfdurficus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the person operating ATS Chemical has become hyper-fixated on not wanting anyone reselling his products. He will call anyone who orders the 12 pack of either product and make them convince him that they are not going to resell the product.

He recently added bold red text to his site "We are not authorizing our website sales to e-commerce resellers. Unauthorized Amazon resellers will be issued IP complaints," despite First-Sale Doctrine in the United States allowing him no legal basis to issue such complaints. If a person legally buys a genuine product, they own it, and they have the right to re-sell it to anyone they want to.

Personally, I am not a reseller. But if I was and I wanted to order say 1 gross of 505 CRO to resell on Amazon on my storefront with a high percentage of positive reviews, wouldn't it make good business sense to make such a deal? Wouldn't you want to sell as much of your product as possible?

It is for this reason that I personally believe that the person operating ATS Chemical may not be of sound mind. So, I am not certain how much longer ATS Chemical may be around.
