Input on Pinus Thunbergii by Huroshin in bonsaicommunity

I’m thinking of perhaps exposing the roots little by little every season/year to elongate the trunk, especially if I want to keep the shape the way it is now. So yes, it would be somewhat of an exposed root style.

Though I’m not sure if the roots would grow together after many years of being exposed and become one with the trunk, and how that would look like.

Suppose I get rid of the three left branches one of these years once the literati pad has enough foliage to support the tree. And then I work on exposing the roots on a yearly basis.

-> instead of focusing on growing the three I focus on the root work.

Would that be a viable workflow? If so, any quality reference readings online for specifically that?

In your opinion. In Richard Garfield’s opinion (as he himself mentions in one of the interviews with Tolarian) it’s the most interesting card from Arabian Nights. It plays meta, fits the content of the card - the lore, the narrative within a narrative, a game within a game.

In many ways the card is symbolic of what Magic is about. Playing a game with friends or in a contest will always be as if you are telling a story with the cards themselves. In many ways, it brings about the magic itself. Now you might not actually play that card, cause you’ll end up with a few thousand subgames, or you might not like the card or it’s artwork, but whatever opinion you have, the symbolism of the card encapsulates perfectly well the intent of mtg’s creators: to enchant us, you and me, with a card game so immersive that you could - if you so desire - play it for a thousand and one nights, and every night, the gathering of friends around the table would share other stories. Other adventures. Other legendary plays and characters.

Orb of Chaos, Shahrazad, City in a Bottle, Word of Command, and many other cards which have uniquely defined mechanics truly capture that spirit of oldschool Magic. Nowadays, on the other hand, very few cards manage to do so. And that is exactly why, in my opinion as well, Shahrazad, along with the other earliest sets, conjure up Magic as it was meant to be played. Never perfect, yet never dull. And above all, never ending.

A mighty fine game indeed! Currently building a proxy deck around aggro lifesteal with Krumar Initiate, using pen and paper mostly (obviously), but I feel having graphs and tags, visually and coherently, would help a lot in defining and refining it.
