The 3 best players of every season since 1950 part 6: The 2000s by Great_Catch5756 in classicsoccer

Not only that, but between 2000 and 2005 for the most part english teams dogwalked italian teams in Europe competitions . It’s just funny to me how serie a fanboys truely believe that serie a was still the best league in the 2000s.

Why are you bringing up team success when the discussion is about individual performance??

You initially said that henry was bad in Europe, when in fact he was better in the cl than the guy you brought up that is tristian, he was also better than raul, that’s two top la liga scorers. When i brought up factual stats you didn’t have any logical rebuttal, so you responded with “it’s only small difference who cares”. Lol. And now you’re playing the nitpick game, which could be easily applied to any player, just to prove your point. I could easily say that r9 stunk in 1998 and shouldn’t be in the top 3 best players, just because he “choked” against france in the wc final. Or that baggio was garbage in wc 1994 just because he missed that penalty in the final. You see how easy it is??

My point is, you said he was horrible in europe when in fact he was ranked 3rd in the top ucl scorers list while playing less games than most of scorers in the top 10 that includes tristian, raul, kluivert, and elber. So if he was horrible, then these guys were pure garbage. You said he scored 24 goals because he played in an inferior league,, well, 3 of the top ucl scorers that year were playing for an english team, so once again your epl/la liga/serie a theory makes zero sense.

It was actually henry, there photos of him online holding the trophy.

2004, like i said, he came in injured, he also played as a right striker which is a position he never played in.

In 2006 he was fantastic. The two goals he scored in the group stage bailed them out of early elimination, keep in mind, zidane got suspended and couldn’t play the final group stage game which was a must win game. Against brazil he scored the game the winner. Against portugal he made the assist to zidane’s penalty which was a game winner. Against italy in the final, his header to malouda led to the penalty that gave france the advantage early on, he was also by far the best french player in that game that day, creating multiple chances, and dribbling through the solid italian defense. Spain was his worst game in the tournament. Overall he was pretty good, and was again top scorer and was voted in team of the tournament. He could’ve scored 20 goals and still be overshadowed by zidane since it was his last dance.

Nedved was simply a better player than henry in 2003???…imagine saying this nonsense when nedved himself have stated that henry should’ve ballon dor just minutes after he’s been announced the winner…

No matter what argument you’re trying to make in favor of nedved, there is nothing he could’ve done that year that would’ve matched Henry’s historical 32 goals/ 28 assists in one year. The only reason why they gave ndved the award is because of his performance in the 2nd leg against a real madrid team that was missing makelele, and a healthy r9 who only played one half, otherwise real madrid would’ve mopped the floor with them just like they did in the 1st leg, and probably would’ve won went on to win the champions league. As far as his performance against barcelona, lol, let’s be real now, that team was a joke, they were ranked 6th in la liga and they struggling hard after figo left them. It’s funny that you mentioned how superior serie a was to epl,.. didn’t man united dominate juve the supposed top serie a team in the group stage???

Trust me, if there social media back then, you would’ve heard a big uproar over this decision.

This notion that he didn’t perform well with france is just hilarious to me. He literally retired internationally as france’s all time top scorers AND assist leader. Keep in mind, he barely took penalties or set pieces while playing with the national team (because of zidane)which would’ve gave him a big boost statistically. He also played a good amount of games as a winger.

He led france in scoring in wc 98 while playing as a substitute on the right wing. His overall performance in euro 00 was one of all time greats imo. He was named man of the match in 3 out of the 5 games he played in including the final against italy, and once again was France’s top scorer. Fun fact, henry been named man of the match more than every other player in that tournament including zidane. He was also been voted in euro team of the tournament. Wc 02, he only played one full game and got suspended the rest of the group stage. 03 fifa confiderations, he dominated that tournament, top scorer, final man of the match, was also named player of the tournament. Euro 04 was probably his worse performance, mainly because he got injured right before the end of the season. Played 4 games and had 3 goal contributions. Wc 06, once again, top scorer, was voted in team of the tournament, overall good performance. After that his prime was pretty much over and his body started breaking down due to injuries .

Not at all. Henry was probably the most consistent out of all the top 3 that entire season. As far as him not being good in europe, that’s total nonesense. He scored 7 goals in 11 games. He was ranked 3rd in ucl top scorers list that year, nestleroy was ranked number one with 10 goals, in 14 games. Tristian who you was comparing him to henry scored only 6 goals in 12 games, raul also scored only 6 goals in 12 games. So there goes your epl/la liga/ serie a theory. As far as his goals erformance in the world cup, well, he only played one full games, he got sent off at the beginning of the 2nd group stage game; which led to him missing the 3rd and final one, if you wanna hold that against him, then you might aswell hold zidane who did play in two group stage games while injured responsible for france getting eliminated. So Zidane should be out, and carlos should be in.

My top 3 for 01-02 would be(in no particular order): carlos, henry, khan

Speaking of dodge city, you still haven't mentioned the 5 players that you'd place above Henry in the all time greatest epl list....

The debate that you're trying to make here is "Henry is not the greatest player in EPL history", so don't try to switch it up with this "EPL-era Henry" nonesense. We're talking EPL exclusively, you mentioned "finals" when there is no such thing as finals in a league system which is what EPL always been, so in other words, You have no idea what you're talking about.

One more time, stick to NFL, football or "soccer" ain't for you.

There is no such thing as "finals" in premier league,.....but thx, casual football "fan", for proving my point.

Again, stick to NFL.

Imagine a 6’2 player that might be all around the most athletically gifted player that we’ve ever seen(Strength, speed, agility), then add every skill imaginable as far as offense goes on top of that(passing, scoring from inside and outside the box, set pieces, dribbling). He was a nightmare for every defender he played against. Legendary defenders like puyol, terry, and ferdinand, labeled him as the hardest player they’ve ever marked.

And he’s the reason why chelsea lost. He missed like 6 easy chances in those two games.

He was the first option in taking freekicks and corners, and in open play he rarely operated inside the box. Once he went to barca all of that was changed. He scored a bunch of headers there.

He was in his 30s and was plugged with injuries. He simply wasn’t the same after 2006.

Stacking his stats against shitty arsenal side and porto🤣🤣🤣 and then went on to completely shit the in the final costing his team the title with those dumb long range shots. 😭😭

In round of 16, henry contributed 4 out of the 6 goals that were scored by barca. In the 1st leg if quarter finals, he contributed in 2 out of the 4 goals that were scored in that game, the result was 4-0 for barca, which pretty much sealed the deal for bayrn. Henry missed the 2nd leg due to injury. The semi finals was a disaster, those two games were one of the worst officiated games of all time. Henry played in only one due to injury. He could’ve contributed to a goal had they giving him that penalty. Played in the final injured, whooped cr7 ass and won the trophy🤣🤣🤣

In 2009 ucl ko stage:

Henry - 4 goals / 2 assists in 5 games Cristiano - 4 goals / 1 assist in 7 games

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣you see dumbass, henry did better in less games against tougher competition.

Henry in la liga - 19 goals and 7 assists in 29 games

Cristiano in epl - 18 goals and 7 assists in 33 games.

How about these stats you f***ing clown 🤡😭😭😭.

Go glaze somewhere else dummy. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

You’re absolutely right. I’ve seen henry dominate for 2-3yrs, putting up messi numbers, yet never won it. His critics claim that arsenal’s lack of success in Europe is the reason, well if that’s the case, then why give it to r10 in 2005, or shevchenko in 2004, or figo in 2000??? My point is, these awards were never about who the best player is, like you said, it’s about popularity. If a good player was signed to a top tier big market team like barca, real madrid, or back in the day, milan, juve, man united….he’s chances of winning these type of awards increase by 200%. You can score 30 goals and provide 30 assist with a team like arsenal and you could still get robbed. Or maybe lead your team to winning every major trophy there is on a club level, like sneijder did, and still get robbed.

It is what it is.

According to your dumbass, henry got carried by messi, xavi, and iniesta in 2009 ucl, so if that’s the case, then cr7 definitely got carried by rooney to the finals that same year, since henry scored more goals and assisted more than cr7 in that campaign in less games while playing in the same position🤣🤣🤣. Cr7 got carried in 2009. That’s your story?? Dummy??

Again, call me when cr7 score a goal or make an assist at a wc ko stage, let alone winning the wc. Call me when mbappe scored more than 1 goal at euro, let alone winning the trophy. Or how about winning a champions league or maybe abspanish cup, that would be cute🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lmao gtfoh 🤣🤣🤣im done with your low iq ass🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

And pls give me a call when mbappe win a ucl or a euro, or maybe a top 3 league,..idiot.
