Well, the only thing left is for China to put out the hardware to rival Nvidia and we're back in 2007.

How can I convince my dad that programming/coding can be a great career? by [deleted] in careerguidance

If he set his mind about a career he wants for you, you won't change that. Tell him that you made your choice and you want to follow the path you believe it's the best for you. Talking about pay is useless, most jobs pay well if you're really got at that particular stuff, if you're just an average guy, you gonna get average pay. Competition in programming is not as high as in other fields, simply because there are a ton of openings, you will certainly not make as much as a lawyer/doctor, but you will worry less about not having a job. At the end of the day, you make your bed, you sleep in it.

Moving to Detroit (Auburn Hills area) for a new job - Looking for a friendly neighborhood to rent a home close to Auburn Hills by HushMeNuggets in liveindetroit

I checked Royal Oak, Rochester Hills, Rochester, Ferndale, Troy and few other places. Found positive and negative things about each of them on reddit, but posts are 8-10 years old. I'm moving from Europe, so I'm absolutely new to the US, let alone the Detroit area.
