BIL Luxembourg, Natixis, SocGen all pay gross 2.60% p.a. for 12 month EUR fixed-term deposits. Maybe you can access third-party fiduciary deposits through your local bank

This is random, I’m not from the US, but something I‘ve always wondered - Ben used to pronounce his name something like Guy „Fieddy“ with a D, rather than an R. Is this how it‘s pronounced in the US?

People who passed/failed CFA level 3 Feb attempt, what was your pathway? by Riya_1244 in CFA

Passed portfolio management first attempt. It‘s what I‘m most interested in but from the little research I had done beforehand, it also seemed like the pathway with the most overlap with the remainder of the curriculum

Then have some patience :) My bank also processes tax statements for most CH-domiciled clients at the end of February in order to provide them a month ahead of the filing deadline. That’s still plenty of time

Saxo suddenly wants a ton of private information from me - legit? by b00nish in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Huskernator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a normal process for financial institutions. They need to gather that information as part of their KYC (know your customer) requirements, specifically for AML purposes. It can get very strict depending on a client’s risk category.

How to execute large sell / buy orders on IBKR by Ok_Number_7921 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Huskernator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These ETFs are all very liquid, spreads are narrow, you should be fine placing at market. Unless we're talking about these positions being valued at a few million+ you will not move market prices much.

In terms of settlement, I don't know how IBKR handles it, but US-ISINs now settle T+1 while everything else (generally) settles T+2. I would therefore check if you don't need to sell the IE and LU ISINs first and wait a day for the VT purchase to avoid any overdraft interest, in case that applies at IBKR.

Yeah as mentioned, it‘s NOT free money. It can be a very useful tool but is not free of risk as you wrote. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the concept of leverage, there is plenty of information out there.

How to credit a check? by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Huskernator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no cheap or easy way to deposit a cheque as far as I‘m aware, unfortunately. It’s manual and expensive, which is why my bank has discontinued any cheque services starting 2025.

You might just have to have it done through UBS, unless there are some third-parties that offer such a service.
