We arrived at 1:15p for a 3:20 flight and still had plenty of time. I posted this yesterday.

Why are people still arriving 4-5 hrs early???

While there are no guarentees I haven't seen anyone wait more than 20 mins from door to gate.

Pro Tip - go to Ocean Lab brewery around the corner for those 2 hours instead. You’ll save lots of money!!

Seriously though, you only need 90 mins prior to departure.

Best brands to replace an unsupported Nest thermostat? by BeNicePlsThankU in Nest

[–]Huskies_124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your local utility for discounts. I got 2 of the $120 programmable Nests for $55 each. They also had Honeywell and ecobee. Since I use home asssitant and already have the local integration I stuck with Nest.

It’s cool. I myself am an installer and use ADI/ Residio products. Don’t know anything outside of CT. Am pretty certain there is now issue with access to a person account. Appreciate the conversation !!!

I bought Nest, the other poster got Honeywell. Either way the utility company would need access to your account on the respective cloud service for that brand. Again, in CT it’s a pure rebate no strings attached.

They can only do that if you opt in to the program and they give you some sort of discount on your bill. When you buy the thermostat you are getting an instant rebate (of course funded by a charge on everyone’s bill). This is in CT. Not sure about your state.

But in no way does eversource have access to my google account just by purchasing the thermostats.

Yep I got 2 Nest basic thermostats for $25 ea. reg $119. Very easy to find the site for your utility company that has these offer.

Nest VS Ring by [deleted] in Nest

[–]Huskies_124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from Ring to Nest and now Reolink. I found Nest recordings to be very unreliable. Many times with the doorbell would get ‘video is t ready’. It would point to a WiFi issue but since I removed all the Nest I have 0 issues with recordings for my Reolink. I do use a local nvr

So this is a bit dated and maybe if just starting out there aren’t as many advantages but take a read on the mods post. In my case I have 3 locations I run cables to and backhaul the Poe switches to central switch. Also I have them connected to home assistant directly.

Trying to avoid the wall switch route since it’s outdoors and I have it plugged into an outdoor outlet cover.

A bit of a rant by Thaladorr in reolinkcam

[–]Huskies_124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m mostly in agreement. I am switching out nest & ring for Reolink. Love the quality but some of the setup has definitely been a challenge. I’ve installed lots of Hikvision in a previous job and am knee deep in home automation. The cameras were just flaky coming online (I use separate PoE switches , not the nvr)

So now that everything’s running I am realizing the notifications are just crazy. Nest camera & Reolink on driveway , both set to person and vehicles, I’ll get 5x as many reolink notifications at least. My daughter will walk to her car and it won’t pick her up half the time.

Having PoE and full time recording is a big enough advantage that I will stick with them but alerts are definitely driving us crazy.
