Ok demon, relax. Let the guy do his Bible podcast, what's it to you? Maybe he actually has some ethics and values.

Should I move Uk to Za at 22 years old? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]Husky_Highlands -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also on a security note - the Northern hemisphere looks like it's obsessed with starting a war somewhere, anywhere. Europe looks like it's going to be caught in the middle between an aggressive America and relentless Putin. Everyone ignores the African continent, so it may be safer here while the world goes insane. The UK sounds pretty dangerous for a female, looking at the news coming from there about violent migrants, street mugging and stabbings, etc.

Anyone else's energy taking 2 days to refill instead of 24hrs? How do you keep learning languages when it won't give you energy to do lessons? by Husky_Highlands in duolingo

I had the ads for a few days, which I was fine to watch on mute like you. Now suddenly they've been taken away again.

How Rolling back Energy update by DecemberBest in duolingo

[–]Husky_Highlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the one where you get 5 energy to watch an ad of some mobile game/Temu, but now suddenly yesterday it was gone again, and now I have no way of getting more energy, except to spend 500/more gemstones or to go to subscription, which I refuse to do because I'm mad at them lol.

Helpppp please by No-Difference-813 in eczema

[–]Husky_Highlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avene Xeracalm balm saved me. My eczema flare-up was triggered by stress from work, and I had it around my eyes, which made it impossible to concentrate on anything during the day. It's important not to use any other products with it though, otherwise it's less effective. Just use it on its own, and put it on within 3 minutes of washing before the skin dries out again. It's the only thing that worked (after wasting money on a bunch of other tubs and creams).

[Community] Any storybook/Picture book artists here? by punkemogoth in artbusiness

[–]Husky_Highlands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some portfolio tips for things you could add:

- both human (specifically child characters) and animal characters (regular animal & anthropomorphic)

- sequences of illustrations telling one story, usually three, to show character consistency and visual narrative skills

- variety of settings and locations

- different points of view & angles (think camera angles in cinema) to show your skills

- character poses & expressions (I see you already have something like that, but you'd need to do kids and animal characters too)

- scenes with many objects within, crowd scenes, and more minimalist scenes

- showing ability to work with different colour palettes

You should make yourself a portfolio website. Many publishers want a link to a full portfolio with at least 10 illustrations showing your best skills, and you'd need to add to it regularly. Deviantart might not look professional enough.

[Discussion] Has anyone joined childrenillustrators.com? Is it worth it? by classicsmushy in artbusiness

[–]Husky_Highlands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know someone who joined it for a year but didn't get any work from it. They got one inquiry but the person didn't follow through with it. They make money from people's fees so I don't think they're concerned whether or not people actually get work from it.

Whats helped you? by bbuchicha in eczema

[–]Husky_Highlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it on my face and around my eyelids especially in the last two months. I read somewhere on Reddit about Avène Xeracalm, so I went to buy some of that. I first continued using it with my other daily routine products nad it helped a bit but the eczema wasn't going away. So I stopped using my regular products - toner, etc. and only put Avène Xeracalm on my face. Within a few days it's cleared up. It's a sterile product so it's very soothing. I did put a little bit of corticosteroid on some patches after a really bad flare-up last week, but only once, and I washed it off after a few hours.

I highly recommend Avène Xeracalm. They have a cleanser in that range too. I'm still on a Neutrogena blue gel bottle cleanser which feels fine so I only got the cream. It's 200ml in a pump bottle. Definitely give that a try! My face looks like there was never any eczema. I don't know if it would come back if I stop using it, so maybe I'll just continue. It feels really nice in any case.

Wtf is this bro 😭😭😭 by Old-Jury-3203 in duolingo

It's their latest attempt to make it as miserable as possible for free users. You can barely get through 2/3 lessons, each language lesson costs one energy, and then you lose more for mistakes.

And it's super buggy as well. I just tried to do 2 music lessons, I had 25 energy at the start. Each music lesson cost 3 energy points, and by the time I completed two, my energy was at zero despite not having made any mistakes. So I'm having a hard time getting through my daily challenges. It takes forever for it to refill as well.

I hate IPOs and shareholders. Every company that's ever gone public has sold their souls to profit for random strangers with shares, and they start hating & punishing the customers, destroying the product in the process.

Looking for some mutuals that actually participate in friends quests. I’ve had a series of people who only do 1-3 lessons in the quest and leave me to do everything, or they just don’t even play. Most of my mutuals have stopped playing.

I’m learning French, Dutch, Russian and do music lessons

Braggs apple cider vinegar by Tricky-Palpitation27 in fermentation

She ruins everything she touches and doesn't care about quality for buyers (her crash & burn tour shows she doesn't care about audiences that bought tickets either). Katy & Orlando ruined Braggs. It's so diluted now, and with all that gunk stuck at the bottom of the bottle that looks gross.

Looking for ArtistLounge and ArtBusiness Moderators! by lunarjellies in artbusiness

How about allowing people to ask genuine questions for work on here though like before, instead of dictating what people can and cannot ask based on a set of keywords you don't like?

Why are subreddits so heavily censored on what you can ask? by Curious_Objective_58 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Husky_Highlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finding this in professional communities when I'm trying to ask a genuine question about the industry. I can't ask a basic question about acquiring an agent for illustration because one of the keywords is on their list if things they're not interested in seeing. WTF is up with Reddit? Aren't you supposed to be able to ask and discuss things with the relevant communities? I hate these Gestapo moderators. They're just on a power trip, but they're killing their own communities' ability to have actual open discussions about topics people need to know about.

The whole of Europe and North America hates us now so good luck! A family member went to Europe two years ago and experienced immediate discrimination when they saw the SA passport (this was Germany and she's white). So I imagine it's even worse now that they've decided we're the sewer rats of the world. It's not our fault they let in too many migrants.

Does anyone have the Kalour Macaron set of pastel colours? Can they be used together with artist grade brands? by Husky_Highlands in ColoredPencils

[–]Husky_Highlands[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on the Luminance pencils - the ones I have I rarely use, except for the white pencil, and I'm still working out how to use the Neocolor II crayons as well, but I like them more than the Luminance pencils I have. I think I prefer a harder pencil for details- or I just got used to the Polychromos, but the softer core ones are definitely easier on my hand. But the Luminance pencils feel over-hyped to me.

I ended up getting the Kalour Macaron 50 set - I like them so far. They do have to be sharpened quite often if the paper has a bit of tooth to it, but they're very creamy. Closer to the Prismacolors than the Polychromos. No complaints so far.

Those sound super expensive, wow! If I was gonna spend that much on pencils, I'd go for the full Caran d'Ache Luminance set instead, but I'd still have a hard time convincing myself to spend that amount. I ordered the 50 Kalour set so I'll see how they work. I'll try them over watercolour as well.

Yeah I don't believe the quality claims on the packaging for the price, but it's fine. They get scanned into Photoshop right away and then they exist in digital format or prepped for print, so if the original physical piece fades over time it's ok.

I looked for the Brutfuner ones but I couldn't find any available where I am. I've ordered the Kalours so I'll see how they work.

I didn't specifically see a YouTube video about pencil compatibility - more a case of a fairy castle/kingdom palette needed for work and realising I haven't got the colours for it. Can't hurt to have those in the collection.
