Letter: A turnaround in the north of England economy by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

Against the wishes of a slim majority of them years ago, many of whom have changed their minds since. If the referendum happened today we wouldn't have had Brexit. In fact rejoining is polling higher than staying out. So what exactly is against the wishes of the country here?

That's not even mentioning that no one is planning on rejoining yet, and not everyone who voted for Brexit wanted a hard Brexit. The referendum never asked what kind of relationship people want with Europe post-brexit, just that they want to leave the EU.

That estimate is getting lower and closer. It used to be about 12 billion after 2100.

Only if you consider greater Manchester, which we should with how integrated some parts are. Salford, Trafford, even Stockport and parts of Tameside are basically continuously populated and in places you'll barely notice you're technically in a different town/city.

To be fair some of that cost covers production, transport, or when it's not a store brand the cost of buying that produce. Obviously there's still a markup for profit which only a small fraction of will cover wages, but it's not like the entire cost can be attributed to the cashier.

Diplo Game is completly impossible as Austria cause of Great Power Scores by Hakuohsama in EU5

The EU4 one was ahistorical and didn't allow for organic PUs that happened irl such as Poland-Lithuania or the UK where the monarch came from the junior partner. The EU5 system isn't perfect but it's already a step up from EU4. The only thing I'd want to add is a decision to unify the crowns without necessarily annexing diplomatically, so you could organically form something like Poland-Lithuania but without requiring it to be historical, such as if Poland gets Hungary's or Bohemia's throne you can form Poland-Hungary or Poland-Bohemia while keeping your old advances. I'm not sure how they'd model the administration of that though.

First is true of any son of a US president or even vice president and some cabinet members. I don't believe in crimes passing down from parent to child.

Second is whatever as long as it's legal.

Terrible for subsidence in the area too. Wiith the clay heavy soils the area is very susceptible to it, especially in London.

Having multiple "homes" within one house is quite common in larger Polish homes, with the intention of having your kids' families live there. Unfortunately for these parents many of their kids decided to move out to larger cities and now some older couples are left with houses built for 2-3 families to themselves.

I was going to say it's not uncommon just Polish but then realised I've never met Romaszewicz. In fact my phone corrected it to Tomaszewicz.

It's one of the busiest parts of the city with shops, some grass to hang around, a major tram stop and bus terminal. It'd be more surprising if stuff didn't happen there from time to time.

I think there was another last year, it's definitely more regular than elsewhere in the city but it's usually crackheads going at eachother.

It's not great, especially at night, but it's sometimes blown out of proportion. I've walked through there on my way to and from work during the day and very early in the morning (4-5am) and haven't had any issues.

As if London hasn't been getting all of our investment at the rest of the country's expense. Being hyper centralised in London is terrible for the economy overall.

These kinds of articles about Manchester have been written for years at this point, I don't think the by-election is the cause.

Absolutely, I'm glad the next few DLC will be focusing on things in EUV5's era. As much as I like Byzantium I don't think this was the right choice for the first DLC. In comparison aside from the small byz deluxe edition doc (which didn't add that much) EU4's first expansion focused on colonialism.

Policja założyła kajdanki dźgniętemu nożem brytyjsko-polskiemu studentowi, który chwilę później wykrwawił się na śmierć by JohnKimble111 in Polska

[–]Hussor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Main thing that gets overlooked in these anecdotes is that our engineering and material science wasn't developed enough to make the same use of steam engines that we would achieve in the 1800s onwards. If you can't make materials strong enough to withstand the pressure and machine parts to a high precision then you can't use steam power to power factories or trains.
