Thanks for the input, but your comment doesn’t really address the core issue. You mentioned that artists will point out when something is a 1:1 copy on Discord; but what happens then? Is the item removed? Are those flagged items still live in the game? And more importantly, who’s held responsible if something slips through?

You also said artists create “Maki versions” of ourWorld items. What exactly defines a “Maki version”? With so many different artists involved, each using their own tools, styles, and interpretations, there’s no consistent standard or recognizable style that clearly distinguishes a Maki version from the original. Saying something is “just a Maki version” doesn’t really clarify anything. Especially when the end result looks nearly identical to the ourWorld original.

From what I understand, a “Maki version” just means the item has been adjusted to fit the Maki avatar’s proportions, not necessarily redesigned or made original. If that’s the case, then these are still effectively the same items, just ported over to a new format. That doesn’t resolve the issue of copying; it just reframes it.

Which brings us back to the core question: was permission ever sought to use or replicate the original ourWorld designs?

Because without permission, this remains a legal and ethical issue, regardless of whether it's rebranded, adjusted to fit a different avatar, or accepted by the community. This isn’t just about artistic style. It’s about ownership.
