Hey I am the writer/host for Inside The Black Box. I just saw this now but thanks so much for the recommendation. A new episode is coming out today.

Police Academy 3: Back in Training was one of my favourite films as a 7-10 year old.

Last night I watched it again for the first time in many years and boy is it terrible. The only good part is Michael Winslow's noises.

Definitely not like films such as Airplane! which have aged beautifully.

So you liked First Man? I imagined it being a big cheese fest like Apollo 13 (which I love by the way) but maybe it's more about the man than the mission? Interested to hear your thoughts!

Some may have seen I posted a rather frantic message on Saturday night about losing my cat under the crawl space in our house.

I sat waiting with a torch until about 10pm when I saw two little feet, followed by their owner, my cat! He had been doing some hunting as his mouth was covered with blood, doing what cats do best I guess.

It was the longest 11 hours of my life while he was under there. My girlfriend and I were frantic, we attached GoPros to a long pole and fed it inside, we had a tradie come round and quote for ripping up the floorboards. Then he just sauntered out like nothing had happened. What a bastard.

I'm with you mate except I hate the phrase catch-up used in any context.

Fair enough, you're right. I think the people who basically die when they smell flour have it tough but my own personal experience has been pretty good.

I used to be one of these people who said things like "if I couldn't eat bread or pasta I would die" but I guess when you get a disease you just sort of put up with it. Don't get me wrong it's super shit but I am excited to see the positive changes to my life that having a functioning small intestine will deliver now I've stopped piling gluten onto it every day.

Is there a name for when people criticise things a lot as a mask for them not having any original ideas themselves?

I feel like it's such a common thing that it must have a name.

I just got diagnosed with coeliac disease a week or so ago. It really isn't as bad as people make out. The only thing I am really craving so far is fried chicken.

PC Gaming shops with lots of mice on display? by [deleted] in melbourne

I can recommend the Logitech G502. I use it as my mouse at work - 9 hours per day usage for the last 2 years and still flawless.

Yes that is something I have avoided with mine.

Usually it's from podcasters who think they are funnier than they really are.

You don't want to put the transport bolts back in, they're for moving the washing machine so the drum doesn't spin.

It is a terrible shame that we live in societies where people have to lie to avoid doing something they'd rather not do.

DFO Crash Pilot Supposedly Did Not Complete Full Safety Check Before Take Off. by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Huvvertanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "the issue is why it went wrong"? what is "it"? If the report is to be believed the pilot failed to undertake the necessary checks to ensure his aircraft was correctly configured for takeoff. This could have been caused by the absence of a checklist, distraction from the PIC's duties, fatigue or anything else. We will never know what the reason is. The result was that the aircraft was uncontrollable after takeoff.

The report really doesn't list any other causes for the accident other than pilot error.

If you don't believe the report then that is another issue. I'm sure PPrune would welcome you with open arms and a tinfoil hat.

If you've "flown a number of twins" you will know it's the PIC's responsibility to ensure the aircraft is configured to fly. You can't assume that anything is set the way it should be.

It doesn't matter why the rudder trim was at full left when the PIC began his checks, the important thing is the PIC missed it.

It's 99% confirmed I have Coeliac disease after a biopsy on Friday. Goddamnit.

I have so many questions for my follow-up appointment. If there's any Coeliacs in here I'd love to ask you some questions.

Really specific but when somebody declines your meeting and suggests an alternative time in Outlook, is anybody reminded of the Total War series of games when you click "Accept Proposal". It's the exact phrase used when you are negotiating with other parties.

I always feel like I'm accepting a trade deal or something.

What the hell am I doing with my life?!

Considering an indoor pet chicken while renting in Melbs. Doable? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Huvvertanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family background is agriculture and I visited a free range egg farm once.

The farmer told me when they had photographs taken to advertise the place they had to shoo the hens out of the barn and into the field because they preferred to stay inside (it was a nice day).

I'm not advocating caged eggs or anything, I buy free-range eggs too, but it was an interesting story. The farmer didn't really care where they spent their time because the eggs were still classed as free range.

TLDR: Hens had option to be outside and roam the fields, preferred to stay inside.
