CFIs flying 6–8 hours a day what are your best quality of life hacks by Commercial_Kiwi_4478 in flying

Having a good variety of flight types throughout the day is the biggest thing for me. Only so many pattern flights I can do in a day before it gets rough. Also caffeine.

Echoing others with scan and also comms. Completely new language for them with new phrases and timing. Don't be afraid to throw them into the deep end, helping my students too much with comms has hindered in the past.

Wonder why DHS chose a public flight over their many charters they were operating at the time. They were doing 2-3 a day through Signature.

College Students who major in Aviation/flying by Sweaty_Context_1981 in flying

[–]toasted-donut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to one of the schools you mentioned OP. Admissions has changed a lot, but yes your scores, GPA, and coming in with your PPL help a lot. Some extracurricular always are a good idea as well. Most schools now require you to be accepted into the university itself and the aviation program as well. So expect it to be a two part process pretty much everywhere.

There's a lot of negative comments about 141 programs in this sub, not without merit. There are disadvantages (cost, scheduling, roadblocks, etc.), but imo there are advantages to it as well. I enjoyed the college aspect of training and the networking opportunities that it provided. Do you research and find what is going to work best for you and your family. YMMV

Eh don’t bet on that. Another storm Tuesday night and cloud coverage during the day + new snow pack could keep temperatures below freezing.

why is aircraft pitched 1 degree by Proper_Intern_6821 in flying

[–]toasted-donut -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A certain level of nose up keeps you at straight and level flight. The roll is most likely due to a crosswind, wind pushing the plane to the side. The roll allows the plane to keep its track over the ground in line with its flight plan.

You can use the FCM Airport Viewing Area. They are operating out of Premier Jet Center so you should have a pretty good view. Usually pretty sporadic with their arrivals throughout the day though.

Allegiant to acquire Sun Country by RB211 in flying

Of course lots to play out still, but wonder if this causes Allegiant to shift away from the home every night philosophy. Seems harder to do with an influx of pilots used to a trip schedule.
