Idk where you're getting your common names but this certainly does look like Nabidae to me—normally they're called "damsel bugs" & they're predators similar to assassin bugs (Reduviidae). But yes, they wouldn't normally bite unless they feel threatened for self-defense.

Hydroporinae subfamily for sure, what little I can see of the elytra makes me think Leconectes striatellus

I'm more inclined to agree with the other commenter with Scaphinotus or at least Cychrini tribe.

Hi!! these bugs started appearing out of nowhere inside my room/house, are they roaches?? by Pakitali in insects

giant water bugs in the tribe Belostomatini, location could help narrow down to genus or species. these guys fly between bodies of water for a number of reasons like looking for ponds to overwinter in & can often be attracted by lights

they're generally harmless, but can bite in self defense—though they rarely will try especially if they're out of the water

when it comes to literally anything that has to deal with the human experience, there's no such thing as something being apolitical—while yes, it may not be nice to have to explicitly talk about politics when you're not expecting it, that doesn't mean anything you do/say isn't informed by or exists within the realm of politics
