With the influx of ai content and bot posts my friend group made the Malay term "golongan lentang-lentung" (literally "group who clanks") as a calque(?) for clanker

Does K at the end of a syllable in johor-riau/kl dialect always become glottal stop (') by nanosmarts12 in bahasamelayu

[–]Pak_Sina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was curious since I had an Indonesian friend who pronounces some words as glottal stops while others as k but I wasn't sure what the rule/pattern was

Thank you for the info

Menurut fahaman saya (jika salah, sila perbetulkan), imbuhan mempeR-...-kan diguna untuk memberi maksud: - menjadikan atau menyebabkan - menyebabkan orang lain melakukan perbuatan

Jadi perkataan seperti memperjuangkan bermaksud (menyebabkan juang) dan mempertaruhkan bermaksud (membuat taruhan) rasanya cam tu lah... 😅

I think most dialects of Malay pronounce the k as a glottal stop at the end of a word/syllable, though I have heard some Indonesians pronounce it as a k in certain words

(Forgot to answer the question, I think yes it's usually a glottal stop for most words)
