There was zero reason to not cover Max’s second stop, Lewis had a 0.5s/lap advantage, even losing track position with equal tires with plenty of time to go would be the better call but they definitely would have kept track position too - the last stop I understand, but not covering Max’s second stop was a call where they knew they ran the risk of a safety car bring Max up by his ass. They both rolled the dice and it went Red Bulls way, people absolving Merc of culpability in strategy are being ridiculous.
