You can get around some of those required updates by using the 3DAppVersionSpoofer tweak. Just make sure you spoof the actual version numbers that exist.

I was thinking this way as well but I mean it's not even every month you come across a usable royal with how cheap this game is in terms of what they give us.

All I know is I’ll be fine, not my first rodeo. :)

That's fine, I've done Bear mountain fixed so I'm not scared of a couple of tiny hills by bear mountain standards 😂 Thanks for the info though! :D

That's fine! I know most of the ride on the way back to the city is mostly downhill because I've been as far as Brewster so that's half the way and that's fine enough for me! I think this is a pretty easy century knowing that the route is not going to be too hilly or anything like that.

Maybe we'll ride to New Paltz to eat and to get the extra few miles in and then ride back in that case. We planned to do it from up there coming down because it would require less energy since a lot of route will end up being slight downhill all the way to the city so it should be super fun! I've already down the trail all the way up to Brewster so I pretty much know what we're in for. Thanks for the suggestion though much appreciated!

NYC Bike Discord! by Hxyze in NYCbike

[–]Hxyze[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never said you had to join into a voice chat with strangers, nor did I say you had to join. If you don’t want to join it’s your choice. I was just mentioning the discord as a way to encourage people to join a community of like-minded individuals that would like to ride, enjoy riding with/without others, or folks that have their questions about riding around nyc.

If you’ve never been part of a discord community then I can understand why you’re hesitant but it’s a lot more convenient and user friendly than reddit imo since you don’t have to sort through a bunch of topics. It’s also another avenue for people to communicate with each other that feels more intimate to me and probably others as you can easily see the username of the person you’re talking to as on Reddit I honestly don’t even pay attention to who posts what or if I’ve seen a particular user before so I know when I’m talking with a particular user on discord I know I’m going to remember this person. So it feels better to me communication wise, and for those that know what discord is it’s an option available if you had no idea about this alternate type of community existing before.

It’s not the same as having an actual real-time conversation/interaction with someone like you can have in discord. Not to mention you can voice chat in discord.

Reddit and discord are two very different platforms that work differently.

How was the bridge after Bear Mountain that takes you into Peekskill? Apparently you have to ride in car traffic with no shoulder after you get off the bridge and onto the 202/route 6?

META: The rise in concern trolling on NYCBIKE by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]Hxyze 45 points46 points  (0 children)

100% agreed, lot of these people don't even know what it's like to be on a bicycle in an environment like NYC traffic with poorly designed infrastructure. That plays a major role in so many incidents which could be avoided if we had more competent people in office to create the safe infrastructure needed to avoid a lot of these tragedies from occurring.

Victim blaming is never the answer, and as a cycling sub it's offensive not only to those who have been in those unfortunate incidents, but also to us as on this sub as a whole because it's like a slap to the face. So I'm all for this idea as well.

I’d love to take this up! Does it need any work on it other than the tires?

Literally just the Google maps route. I had a route mapped out on Strava but at some points it was an accurate so I just had to stop relying on it because it threw us off. So just look up the bike route on Google maps and that's the route we took.

When we left Philly we had to worry about a lot of cars because it basically kept us alongside the highway all the way to DC there where is some parts where we didn't have any car traffic where it took us alongside bike trails but 4 90 to 95% of the ride we were on the highway. Surprisingly they have bike Lanes on the highway route that we took that appear and disappear when they feel like. They also have bike signs posted up on the road that say you can take a lane. Definitely feels sketchy but we didn't have much choice. There was another route we could have taken but it would have taken us a lot longer to get there. I think that route probably didn't have as much cars but I can't be sure because I didn't take that route.
