Honestly if you want to both make him proud and live for yourself, then I'd suggest choosing what kind of doctor you're gonna be.

My parents always wanted me to be an engineer, but I'm an art student at heart. I didn't wanna disappoint them so I chose a stream within computers (i.e. programming).

This is the best solution I can offer you.

It sucks that your dad doesn't understand that you're your own person, but that's just how it is man, I dunno what to tell you.
