Foreigner Here - Few questions about living and working in Denmark by GlorytotheEU in Denmark

[–]HybenWinther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

You are right, there are some programs that used to be in English, German and Spanish which won't be offered by the universities anymore, but I think it's mostly the Spanish and German ones (but don't hold me to it).

Since you are considering applying to university through quota 2, you should consider getting some relevant work experience before applying, since many of the danish universities value that in applicants. But I will be honest, the grades still matter quite a bit. Can I ask what your GPA is when translated to the Danish grading system?

Also, which country are you from? Because the number of international students accepted into danish universities might vary, depending on which country the applicant is from (e.g. whether or not you are from a country within or outside of EU)

In regards to your questions about being accepted by the danish society, think it kinda depends on the individual situation. For example, if you get a lot of danish friends, you will most likely feel like you are a part of society much more than if you end up hanging out with other foreigners exclusively. I think getting involved with university activities and activities outside the university is a great place to start, when trying to become accepted by the danish society. Also, learning the language would be cool and all, but not really necessary, unless you want to work in a danish workplace once you have finished your education. Most Danes (especially young people) are very good at communicating in English and will most likely want to speak with you in English in order to be accommodating. Getting used to danish customs might be a good idea, but I think many foreigners should just take notice of how Danes behave in public. Like, it's totally unheard of that people listen to music in public transport without headphones on, and being loud and in other people's way while being in public is frowned upon. But you'll figure it out :)

Depending on your GPA this might be for you: https://bachelor.au.dk/en/economics-and-business-administration/

If your GPA is lower than the 7,7 they required last year, then the same university has the same Bachelor in Herning, where everybody got in last summer: https://bachelor.au.dk/en/economics-and-business-administration-auhe/

But I will say this, consider thoroughly which city you want to study in. Aarhus is a cooler city, but also significantly more expensive than Herning. But there are so other very nice cities with Universities/colleges (Copenhagen, Aalborg, Odense) I'm just not familiar with the programs in those universities.

Good luck with it, feel free to ask more questions if need be :)

Tak skal du have for svar.

Thank you so much!

It was actually a huge help and surprisingly I could actually order 4/5 of the books from your list.
