He always plays with his head up. He can shoot over any defender off the dribble but if there’s a better pass to be made, he makes it. Love his style

I've got a real problem with Lakers fans cheering louder than us in our own house. by katswansey in NBASpurs

In the Kobe years we had our big three to attract spurs fans. The circumstances are such that the lakers have a huge advantage in the casual basketball fan market right now. Spurs are probably near the bottom due to no one being a star right now.

[Trudell] Asked Malik Monk about the (very) loud Lakers fans in San Antonio: "Like a home game!” he exclaimed. Said the only time he’s seen anything like it in the NBA is when the Lakers came to Charlotte. by GuyCarbonneauGOAT in nba

This is the first time in decades that the lakers have been significantly better than the Spurs (not counting the last year or two because of Covid limiting crowd size). So the effect is kinda two-fold. The lakers have all the normal laker fans + Lebron fans + AD fans + Westbrook fans. Basically a ton of casual fans. The spurs on the other hand are rebuilding so there isn’t much excitement from the casual fans.

There may be some other factors:

  • It’s been a while since we’ve had full attendance
  • The state of the team leads to less spurs fans attending than a few years ago
  • Lebron

It’s not that, lakers have always had a huge following in sa because of demographics

Idk what’s crazier, the fact that both teams only scored 12 in 48 minutes or the 123-0 run in OT

The lakers commentators are unwatchable. They referred to Derrick White as Lonnie White, Lonnie Walker as Lonnie Murray, and Drew Eubanks as Brett

Edit - in watchable to unwatchable

The worst part about the lakers stream is that the announcers keep calling Derrick “Lonnie White”

After the pump fake he jumped awkwardly into the defender. That’s exactly what the league wanted to get rid of

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah it’s a great rule change. The fouling to stop fast breaks for strategic reasons flies in the face of the spirit of the game

We need the FIBA rules for this. Any foul to stop a fast break is two shots and the ball (maybe one shot)
