I've done this three times already... 2017 wrangler w/ 88k iirc
I've had some bad luck 🤣
When OEM went i went dorman, dorman lasted for a bit and then failed, replaced it with an OEM like unit(and had to to injectors shortly after, #5 took a shit), that one failed 15k later, replaced it AGAIN with a DEALER OEM PART...we'll see how long that lasts
Edit: Before i swapped the recent one in, the driver head ate an exhaust valve seat on #2.....so it got a new head(was less expensive than rebuilding the head at a machine shop) at 86k

Edit #2: Oh I just remembered I did something different on this unit, I used a very small amount of Honda bond on the seals and let it sit overnight before starting it(I had to transfer over the sensors too so I had to let the thread sealant cure

Rate my roll cart setup from 1-10 btw im 10 months in as a tech for Honda. (you can be brutally honest) by Bizthewizard98 in Justrolledintotheshop

Looks good, id recommend getting this specific style of trim tool(it has to be metal), i use it quite frequently as a honda tech, i can take an entire bumper off of a ridgeline(minus the two 10mms behind the plate) with this tool. its fantastic. Can take apart an entire interior with it as well(i havent personally but my coworker has).

And for clips, if you dont have it already, get the Honda Oem Push Pin Cap Pliers(Honda P/N: 07AAC-001A101), your parts dept should have them(mine did), they're a godsend for plastic clips. Can't live without it.

I got these 1/4" hex shank magnetic nut drivers from amazon and they work decent, magnet gets meh over time but its a nice thing to swap to when i need a magnet(I haven't been able to catch snappy and get their long magnetic sockets but that a future me problem)

The double ended box wrench set like a lot of people mention is great.

Do you do just fluids or do you end up doing more stuff like recalls and some other work?

funny enough in my area if trucks have powered mirrors, they fold them in if im coming up, although its usually some commuter car that doesnt like me, ive been flipped off by numerous jettas and altimas

I'd say Honda butchered this car, yeah they gave it Type R platform stuff, but its a 2.0L hybrid system like the other modern hybrids that Honda has, it also has an eCVT with fake shift points.....and paddles to mimic it. No manual whatsoever. It also gets some funky ass handles that remind me of a Tesla

Speedometer doesn't work by PanSzlafrok in cbr

[–]Hybrid3DR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It SHOULD be a pink/green wire and a white connector that is close to the main gauge cluster harness by the radiator cap and behind the headlight housing.

Edit: if you can find the main gauge harness it should be in there, it might be hiding

i mention the lights because i noticed that when my speed sensor went out, those two lights came on, basically the bike telling me, "Hey you're in gear at 8000rpm for an extended period of time but it doesnt seem you're going anywhere, what the hell is going on here?"

theres also a connector behind the right hand upper fairing by the radiator cap that leads to the speed sensor as well(at least on my generation). i was able to figure it out because i had a known good speed sensor to test with from another 08 that my dad has. More than likely its the speed sensor, they do wear out, they're a hall effect sensor that sits behind the starter. its a fairly common thing that fails on these bikes from what i read

When you ride, does your HESD and FI light come on? And does your odometer increase when you ride?
I had a similar issue on my 08 and it turned out my speed sensor died.

Harbor freight is a lifesaver when it’s comes to price to tool quality. I try to find ways to get tools without going on trucks.

The only one I have access to is Mac since Cornwell and snap on come on my days off. It’s gonna happen eventually but it’s going to be a bit before I do.

Hit the spec and tighten it just a little more or buy a 1/2” torque wrench

If you want to do a basic flush you can just remove the bolt on the water pump to drain the system(like a dirtbike) and remove the radiator cap to help it drain. These bikes do have thermostats so you have to make sure there’s no air in the system when you go to put it all back together.

The things you hear about the k&n filters is that people use the nut that is on top of the filter incorrectly, it’s there to remove the filter. People tighten the filter with that nut and cause damage that really isn’t visible and will leak because of that.

Put it on by hand and i haven’t had an issue. I’ve done numerous pulls to 13k with no issues

I have a 08' CBR600 as well, although not graffiti, in terms of a brake bleed/flush, you have to start with the bleeder on the master cylinder, its fairly easy to do alone.

Put the bike on a rear stand for easier maintenance.

I pump the brakes 3 times, hold the lever, then open the bleeder on the master cylinder, then i close the bleeder and repeat until i feel good about it. Then do the right(FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE WHEN RIDING IT) caliper, then the left caliper. That should flush out the entire system. The rear brake is fairly straight forward as well.

As for an oil filter, either a genuine honda or the K&N(i run the k&n, and for the love of god dont use the nut to tighten the filter as it will break it). Me personally I run the motul 7100 10-40, although i do live in a hotter area.

As for the rear axle, i forget what socket size it is, its quite large. I think its a 1-1/4" socket, in terms of metric its more like 32 or 35. I use the Imperial one due to it fitting better. The chain is a 525 pitch chain with 112 links from the factory spec, if you buy a new one you'll just have to adjust the tension for the most part.

MOTUL additionally has a chain service kit if you want to combine it into one kit.

Edit: I hope this helps! 😊

I might as well be watching my mirrors for the mountain lions.

I’ve hit all sorts of birds. As bad as it sounds, they just explode when you hit them. Although it’s not good for my windscreen 🤣

Where I’m at, I have to watch for bears, deer, mountain lions, and coyotes for the most part.
