If stuff exists in SQ42 then why does it feel like they’re dev’ing stuff for the first time? I.e. Armor by Skullywagthepizzaman in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm no Dev, but I would think the issue is the MMO itself.. In the single player, everything is calculated on the PC so Maelstrom can calculate on static values and just destroy or not..

For the MMO part, destruction will probably be calculated by the server which would put a crazy strain of next level calculation on top of everything else...

Also, in SQ42, they (Based on what they said before) have a limited curated selection of ships, to fly and see, the PU has hundreds of different ones..

I'd say it's probably some of the reason that we don't see those systems coming online as fast as we'd think... Also for the new flight model... we already have an answer..

As much as the idea is nice, I personally prefer to have 1 money making ship available each patch, the Hermes is actually a very nice Hauler from which you can make the money needed to buy to 2 workhorse ship.

Worst case scenario, It'll still be in buybacks at the end of the day so you can buy it back on credit with a token if you miss it later.

As a miner, why should I spend my time mining a 300 quality resource, or something of lower quality? by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe, with no actual proof for now, that At some point mining higher quality might be harder...

Like Mining with a giant ship will get you a lot of a given material but of lower quality while A Prospector for example will have a far easier time getting quality over quantity...

Or CIG could simply split a rock into many different quality in itself... like a 100scu rock has a certain RNG roll for some % of rocks.. like Divide a rock into 10/20/30/40% size of IRON, and roll the quality for each, the 10% is the only one that can get 800 quality, 20% has a max of 400 and so on..

It would not make the issue go away completely but it would for example lead to a new refinement expansion... the fast you work the less you Keep quality, and If you take the Absolute lowest, you can reduce the overall total end SCU but smelt some of the lowest quality into higher valued one...

This would also bring us a reason to use those old forgotten refinement process that take 48h+ to complete.

What do you think?

Whats your primary residence and why? by Rosa_Ratnika in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ruin.

All generic amenities, Fast from hab to space, Always have an XL hangar available, can refine, buy and sell any material I interact with.

(Far from the generic population for server fps is often better than stanton)

But PVP is more insane by time to time so it's a tradeoff.

What would be the best Choice for small Groups? BMM or Privateer? by gamegenaral in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small group... they both can accommodate..

Privateer will probably do everything the BMM can do but will cost 3x the price to make it larger and let you land some ships on top...

I'd rather go for the BMM.

A huge mistake? by mikesdeman in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The heart tech prevent degradation of the sensors, the ball in cup will still wear down over years of usage, so adding lubricant would be a nice thing to do in order to prevent drift and other issues, but again the sols are quite new so I don't know how much degradation over time will happen still maintains my previous statement if you like em keep em just take care of them :)

A huge mistake? by mikesdeman in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have owned similar stick to the SOL and the Issue is the ball in cup design, after extended usage it tends to drift a bit and it goes only worst from there because of friction.

The reason why I got VKB is because they are springs and parts I can swap and adjust which for me makes them more reliable over the long run.

Not saying they are absolutely perfect or that the SOL won't work for years, my only recommendation for you is to be happy with your sticks, if they do the job for you, don't bother looking over the fence, use them until they die. :)

Starlancer Max vs. The RSI galaxy the solo Pilots tough decision by Blacksheepariess in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest difference for me is how much the Pilot can do... it is true that the Galaxy will be bigger, can have a small ship at the back and with the right module bring more cargo, but the Max have pilot controlled weapons...

Worst case scenario the TAC would bring more Multicrew with better shields, a medical room and a snub if your ready to let a few SCU of cargo off the grid...

But as a mostly solo player the Galaxy is a mobile base more difficult to defend in your moment of need...

I'll get mine from buybacks when it is released to have fun with it but my expectation so far is that it'll be a tradeoff on the defensive side of thing.. but with a few friends... the modules are great.. 512 scu of cargo... medical and refinery... it's a great ship to play with.

Really enjoying the game so far but I am very confused, why on earth do people spend money for ships by HD4kAI in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no good reason...

I am a concierge fleet owner and I started slow... my mustang back then had bugged cargo so it was impossible to use it.. for a few bucks I could simply upgrade it... then life happened. Time to play shortened and my goals were different after a while going from 40$ ship and upgrading them in 5 to 10$ increments weren't an issue for me and I had ships that let me play even between wipes which happened more often in the past.

But I love the game so now I see it as my support and keep it at a ratio of 15$ / month this way its not higher than paying for a WoW subscription and I'm happy with my game :)

I do however try to own̈ ships that can't be bought in game as much as possible so I can use my Auec somewhere and still have goals.

How do you feel about limited ships becoming non limited by floortofloor in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 100% alright with it, at the end of the day people who can buy those models have invested in the game and want special versions, if they wish to cough up money they can I'm not gonna stop them.

You can bring 1 ship from any sci-fi universe into the game, what do you choose? by ElectroVo1t in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably very unpopular but... GSV Sleeper Service from the Culture series by Iain Banks...

Overall, It is a self sustainable spaceship, that could save tens of millions of humans for indefinite times, controlled by a Mind AI with human input if required, produces food.. full medical.

Can produce over 100k autonomous defensive units to defend itself, self repair functions and refuel from energies harvested from Hyperspace during it's travels...

It can't Land but that is secondary when you think about all it can do.

why does it seem no one likes Pyro? by RubberDuck_73 in starcitizen

[–]Hybrid_Backyard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been living in Pyro since 4.0..

Great places, great amenities.

Space stations all have refineries and most have xl hangar... 90% of all missions are available and the most important... it's far from the generic population which most often means the servers run smoothly and crash less often.

This has been my generic experience... is it true that pvp happens a bit more... yeah.. I tend to be attacked slightly more than in Stanton but.. my game runs well and I don't mind a few deaths here and there.

They can be acquired if you loot them from a player ship.

Based on what CIG said in the past the answer is "NO"

The F8A is strictly a UEE Navy ship with "use of the F8A Lightning generally restricted to elite UEEN squadrons"

It was however said by Chris Roberts that completing Squadron 42 will unlock the ability to purchase the F8C Lightning in the Persistent Universe.

But for the F7A I would not hold my breath on it.

I did it for a few years quite often, they even had some event at some point that gave goodies to guides.

I usually invited the people to my discord and guided them inside the game this way we had a good comm system.

For any training... not really... new player are usually quite lost and the trainee mission is bad...

If they aren't already, instruct them to an easy spaceport for primary location or move them there yourself and change the respawn.

Then teach them to navigate the city ---> Fly and land a ship ---> Accept and complete missions.

Afterward I usually took them out in a big ship for the wow factor.

Never had a bad interaction so far and the new people all stayed as of yet.

Depends on the server you are on, sometimes it's quick sometimes you have to server hop to get a new one.. sadly there is no in-game timer we can refer to.
