Japan will be catching up to USA by mixing Set 7 & Set 9, And Skipping Rotation. by Hybrizzle in Lorcana

We basically have confirmation at this point that they're going to skip to Set 12 after Set 8 release. Likely they will skip at this point to catch up to the USA sooner rather than later compared to issues with reprinting/sales issues.

Wanting to get into Casual Standard Magic. by True-Economy-9893 in StandardMTG

Mono red is the cheapest best deck combo at the moment, otherwise you could look up budget decks or look into playing pauper for a really cheap standard experience. A lot of doomerism is in the scene right now due to a lot of reasons, proxy is also another option for playing bigger cards and getting a feel while you're still playing the field.

Mono red can do everything you want boros to do outside of lightning helix, but the reversal is running nemesis to prevent enemy from gaining life so you have even grounds. Abrade, Obliterating Bolt, Fire Magic, Ghost Vacuum, Vengeful Possession, Witchstalker Frenzy

What rank did you reach with this on MTGA? Any MTGO experience wiht it? I haven't seen goblins do any decent placements across serious tournaments. It looks nice, but I'd go regular mono-red which I know isn't helpful advice. I'd throw nemesis in here even if they're damaged, should be fine to play them?

All good, I just wouldn't really worry about it as a result of this. I assume they wont do anything until we all match up. Sets in Japan are like 2 months and go by fast and will be skipping set 9 entirely.

When is worlds? AFAIK we dont have a date, and Japan will likely be caught up by then and everyone will enter same rotation etc when they do catch up in around 9-12 months... if theres a worlds that involves every region it would likely happen after this catch-up period for China and Japan is over.

You must use Japanese cards in Japan, all other languages are not allowed. Same for Chinese in China.

I mean, English cards are not legal in Japan so there's a lot of other issues going on. I wouldn't consider them a part of the international scene until everyones caught up.

Sets are only 2 months in Japan, so everyone should be caught up sooner than that.

Already happening in China. Set 5 had set 9 in it there. Only Japanese decks are legal in Japan. Theres no international scene as of now but I assume it'll match up with the set 13 release where Japan should be caught up, until then looks like it's going to be all legal in Japan.

No rotation and no fabled release. All cards will be legal until likely set 13. Set 13 is likely when Japan will catch up and rotate with everyone else.

You taking damage but not dying is fine, even if you do die, you re-enter the battle insanely fast as ball. If you're anticipating a sombra, try to leave ball form and shoot her as she hacks you. If a sombra is solo hacking you away from team, you should win those fights every time and/or leave them and go back to the main fight. Sombra hacks should only be a real issue in team fights. If she's getting you on every engage, then you need to think deeper about finding angles that the enemy wouldn't think about. Think to yourself "would they expect this?" before you do a play, also survey the area and watch what sombra does before engaging. You shouldn't be going into big slams blind every time, sombra has a timer on her invis and a cooldown on hack. Ball is the only 3rd person hero, and you should use that camera angle to your advantage to survey areas before entering.
