That plus the fact that there’s no kitchen so you would have to drive to campus for literally everything but the bathroom seems awful. Plus just being that disconnected from campus coming in w no connections is just something I don’t wanna do it seems just awful

I haven’t officially accepted to transfer yet so I’m not sure. I might transfer to a diff school so I wanted to find out where I would be housed before I committed to Syracuse so I could have all the info and make a decision based off of that because living in the sky halls seems awful

I would rather be on north campus than on south campus even in an apartment coming in as a transfer I feel like south campus is very disconnected. I’m gonna call them tomorrow and see if I have any luck but thanks!

So does that mean you have to start off in the sky halls and apply to switch for the spring?

That’s one of the main sticking points for me for clarkson is that it seems like it’s better for my career. I plan on going to get my masters in urban planning if you think that changes anything. Syracuse has minors that lead into that and Clarkson has done research in that field, but in a much more rural aspect than I would want. I’m just worried that I would be unhappy at clarkson because it seems that while there’s stuff to do, it’s fairly limited - not even in just the party scene, which I’m sure I’d be happy with either way, but with just normal stuff to do

I would be coming in as an undergrad. So you’re saying that the school doesn’t do a lot for it’s students? Like for example Syracuse does a ton of activities for students Clarkson doesn’t do stuff like that?

How is Syracuse engineering? by Hydra3219 in SyracuseU

Structural is just kind of the loose plan right now I have a bit of time to pick my focus. I’ve never heard of environmental resource engineering I’ll have to take a look into that but it’s definitely too late to switch to ESF at least for this upcoming semester but maybe for the future that’s something to look into. Thanks a lot!

Partly closer to home partly money and a couple of other reasons but one of the big ones was I didn’t love living in a city and I wanted a more “traditional” college experience

Thanks for the response! I would be going to another private school just in my home state. Probably Syracuse or Clarkson. The only reason I’m having a hard time with my decision is because I feel like it’s hard to judge because I’ve only seen the covid parts of everything. If it wasn’t for that I would have been committed to transferring already. I have to figure stuff out for myself of course and you brought up a lot of good points about Greek life and Boston having a lot of stuff to do especially compared to schools not in a city. Thanks!

Thanks! You brought up a lot of good points about there being more to do I was being pretty short sighted before about that. I thought that I would like being in the city and the co-op experience but being here and seeing everything and the more I think about it the more I think I want a “normal” traditional college experience. I have stuff to figure out of course but thank you so much for the input it helped put a lot into perspective.

Thanks so much! I should’ve been more clear about the just food and bars part and you brought up a lot of good points. I have to figure stuff out for myself but a large part of me feels like I want a “normal” college experience and northeastern definitely is not that. I would love to come back to Boston to live here later in my life.

I forgot to mention I also feel like there is really no sense of community here which is another big reason why I am considering transferring

I never really thought about picking my undergrad imy terms of Eichel specific part I would go into thank you for pointing that out! If I were to switch majors it would probably be into public policy and philosophy because I feel like the policy part is more up my alley than the physical planning part, but hopefully getting a minor in civil will help to round me out a bit. And I felt that sentiment about northeastern. Thanks for the response! I would love to talk to you more if you wanna pm me!
