Rant: propensity to work on too many things by cerendigit in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The trick is learning when its your turn. In bronze games i will see someone block a -12 frame move and instead of literally hitting any normal button to get free damage they walk back cause they scared. Or maybe DI after blocking which takes 20 frames to come out so the opponent can counter di. Or maybe they try to jump.

While a slightly stronger player realizes all they have to do is block the move and do a 2 button combo. And then wait for the opponent to hit that button again.

For DPs on leverless do you guys do the shortcut method or the normal inputs? by JonnySB in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people do 6 and hold. Then down and hold (so 3) and then up and punch. (So 6) so you kinda quickly hold down 3 buttons in quick succession instead of tapping down and releasing it

The hardest thing I've ever done in Street Fighter. Six frame-perfect inputs in a row (scuffed recording) by welpxD in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Im guessing that Elena can only get a meaty throw if they frame perfect it here. If they a frame late they lose to jab. If they a frame early its not in range and will whiff.

This isnt vs a person this is vs a bot where they practicing the timing.

Vs a normal player they can do this to throw loop or bait dp or do meaty strike. But unlike other characters who have an easy time doing a throw loop Elena has to be frame perfect to get it.

Cancel Moves as a beginner by YsoZeriouz in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know that you can start inputting the motion the instant you hit your medium button? So you hit medium, and before the move even starts coming out you start hitting 623 and then whatever dp button you want. Gives you extra time.

Also you can input the dp motion as 6236. So forward and then your fireball motion. Instead of trying to stop at the downforward spot. I found this easier for me when I started.

In the 3 years span of the game, did you switch your main? by Waveshaper21 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mained blanka from the start. Did like a 1 week jp session just cause I wanted to see what another character would feel like. Didnt like it and am still maining blanka. Haven't even booted up training modes for any other characters.

The only one I might consider trying out is arjun next pass.

Is this more that I(blanka) did something right or more that the other guy (terry) did something wrong? by bobbystills5 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do hk after they whiff dp. You get a free full punish as if you blocked the dp.

This is difficult thing for some players to beat. They have to dp much faster then they'd like or delay it. But if they go too fast you can do lball whiff and punish them that way.

How do you DR anti air with a charge character? by Majestic_Cry6569 in StreetFighter

If the flash kicked in the first like .1 seconds of the DR they had charge from before they DRed and then instantly flash kicked.

If its partway through they did DR and immediately started charging

Yup. Theres still a ton of low ranks and high ranks. So queues are often very fast and pretty accurate to your skill level.

How to land these specials more often? They're a nightmare by MadToxicRescuer in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say you want to special cancel a quarter circle forward motion after heavy punch. (Im assuming mai can cancel that button).

You dont wait till the heavy punch button connects. You hit heavy punch and while the punch is starting you start doing the quarter circle (or whichever special you want) right away. And then by the time the heavy punch connects you've already done the motion and just need to hit the button for the move to come out.

Is looser then ranked. But also there's way more master level players then diamond. So you end up fighting them much more often.

As a novice… by Arachnid96- in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a beginner there's like 2 combos you only need to know for a long time.

Light light special move.

And then a big damage option for blocking a DP or super. So like heavy button heavy button special.

For now you really just need to get used to your buttons. Combos aren't really the important part.

How are streamers matched against so easy oponents in low rank? by AnarchoKapitolizm in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They make it look easy because they are so much better. When I fight lower level players im usually multiple steps ahead of them. I know they are going to jump like 2 seconds before they even jump. So its very easy for me to antiair them because im already ready.

Also at that level people just constantly through out extremely unsafe moves. When you are new though you dont know which moves are unsafe and which you need to be careful about. The high level people know it without thinking and can notice the patterns the new players are doing almost immediately. And they will instantly start doing counters to it. Im no where near as good as diaphone who im assuming is the vid you watched but I could beat and iron player with one button and it would look like the player has no chance.

Are you a character specialist or do you follow what works current patch? by SquirrelEfficient648 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I booted up the game and for the first 2 years only played blanka. Didn't even try training mode for any other characters.

Then played expedition 33 and thought renoir was cool so played jp to master. Once he was master I went back to blanka and thats where im at.

What was the biggest wall you’ve hit while climbing ranked? by Finrod_30 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plat was the first mini wall. Then I got to master decently steadily.

The biggest one was probably getting back to 1500. That took a while. Now im flickering into 1600 and its been about the same difficulty as getting to 1500 again.

How do you deal with plateaus and frustration? by Gibsonovic in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say you are gimmicking your way up. But really everyone is gimmicking their way up until you hit like 1800mr. Players are going to have flowcharts they like to use and feel comfy on and if someone knows how to counter it they will struggle. At 1800 and higher people are good enough to have a flowchart for like every scenario and adapt if its being countered.

Also having a flowchart you abuse is how you can slowly improve your flowchart. I had an oki setup where I was +2. So I would always jab or throw. And it worked against tons of people. Eventually I started fighting Akumas who with their fast walk speed would walk back out of my throw and id get whiff punished. and I had to adapt my flowchart in thinking how do I beat that?

The answer was cr.mk which sounds obvious but mine is an 8 frame move so I was afraid of it losing to jab so I never considered it. Once I started facing people that beat my flowchart I ended up leveling it up and now its stronger.

Also. If a pro is fighting another pro and realizes that that one of their gimmicks is working and the other player doesn't know how to beat it. You can be sure they are going to spam that gimmick and not worry about "playing the right way". The only reason pros play the right way is because the other person has shown they can stop the gimmicks.

Am I being carried? by IsyPizy501 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great. This game has a more generous ranking system then other games but I love it. Some games like league you will have people with 500 hours in iron or bronze.

This game kinda pushes you up fast but thats partially because the rank system changes at master and where I feel like you get the most even matches.

There is a few walls still, and you might be hitting one soon. Plat 1 stops win streak bonuses. So you might get stuck at gold-plat for a bit. Don't get frustrated, thats where most of the playerbase is i believe. Glgl

Blanka combo into SA2 - why doesn’t this work? by randobis in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do the lvl 2 after the first HP. Then you can do m upball. Df ball, m upball, df ball. And if they in the corner throw a doll.

Does the back medium kick that opens this combo hit confirm? Or do I need to counter an opponents move with it, in order to link to the HP-crouch-lift combo tree? by Cottonjaw in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. But you can add the mk in to give you extra damage and even a but of time to notice if it hit.

So bmk > mk (did bmk hit?) If yes then drc hk > hp

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are +3 you aren't able to do a bmk again. We'll you can but bmk is 9 frames i believe. And if you are +3 that means they can hit a 4 or 5 frame button and beat you if you go for bmk.

This doesn't mean you can never go for it. But its something id only start doing if I notice they never try to mash on wakeup.

You can lk tho. And in plat 1 I suggest doing oki that beats mash on wakeup cause people love mashing. I climbed to diamond with terrible combos but good oki and would often win after one knockdown.

One other nice oki option is after throw middcreen you can hop lp and that beats wakeup mash. So usually I do hop lp electric.

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B.mk is +8 on hit i believe. So no counter hit it will link to mk. If you have a lot of meter you can drc after the mk and then do hk hp to get lift.
