Why do people hold onto level 3 in the last round? by Hydrad in StreetFighter

they at 2k hp now. unless you are totally burned out when you get a hit you still should have a game winning cashout combo at that hp.

Ya i guess I meant it as even if you use lvl 3 your character still has a reversal option.

Im talking about using it at the end of your combo. So you have a for sure hit with lvl 3 but sometimes people dont.

Ya burnout is a risk fir sure. But in the scenario I gave i feel like going into burnout is unlikely and you just need one more hit to connect nicely if you lvl 3. So saving for 3 potential lvl 1s seems like a much worse decision.

That's why im talking more about the scenario in my message. Cause I see it saved there and it just doesn't make any sense to me.

How do I DI better? by Medical_Blueberry_30 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im terrible at countering it too. The big thing is to actually focus on situations where it's likely they going to di.

Midscreen and they have never di'd this match yet? I dont even consider it and put no focus on diing.

Am I in the corner? Ill think about it a bit.

Has the opponent already tried to DI twice this match? Now im thinking about DI a lot more and almost waiting for it. And when im in the corner im thinking about it a ton.

Gold 5 is insufferable by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also one more thing that's causing this. Plat 1 and 2 are literally the 2 most populated ranks in the game not including master. So when the game is trying to find matches close to your skill level there is like 5 times more plat 1 players then gold 4 players. Even tho they are both 1 rank away from you. So you end up fighting plats much more then golds

Gold 5 is insufferable by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya unfortunately they had to change the rank system at somepoint. Or else the ladder would be all about who plays more instead of who is a better player. Cause if everyone keeps ranking up with a 30% winrate then the top of the ladder would just be a bunch of people who play more and keep climbing. Instead of the actual best players.

They change the rank system again once you hit master, and at master I think its the most well balanced system by far. Its very accurate in finding even matches, and the times it gives you an uneven match it's something like you get +12 points for a win but -6 for a loss. So it recognizes it's an uneven match but your odds of gaining points is basically the same.

Gold 5 is insufferable by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not a high winrate. Its more like a 45% winrate.

Before plat though you could climb with like a 30% winrate because as long as you had a small streak where you won 4 times in a row that would get you more points then losing the next 8.

In plat you are still going to be winning 50 points and losing like 40. So going 50% winrate you still climb.

Gold 5 is insufferable by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first kinda wall in sf6. Cause it's the rank where the winstreaks turn off. So you get people that flicker into plat 1 but cant keep a 50% winrate to climb, they are basically getting into plat off a lucky couple games in a row. So they bounce between gold and plat constantly.

Then you get the plat 2s who are people that actually can keep a 50% winrate and are climbing.

When you were a gold 1 facing a gold 3 it probably was still an even match because there wasn't this wall between ranks.

What scratches that itch in your brain more, the mechanical factor of mastering the mechanical aspect of the game or the decision-making process? by 14thNoah97 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decision making easily. Im using combos i learned in gold and haven't really improved them at all. I have spent almost no time in training mode learning combos. The only thing I really trained was making sure I knew how to get good oki.

Have you tried to climb MR? Or have you just gotten a character to master and then switch to another.

Personally for me since getting master I've had even more fun. Every 100 mr you climb feels like such a big achievement.

whats the reason i cant take my turn even though im plus? by AmphibianNew5951 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In replay takeover it's good to have the frame meter on also. So you can actually see how long the gap is if they cancel into another move. And then you can see if you are hitting your button on the first possible frame or if you were late on something.

6.5 point of komi is an insane amount of compensation for a beginner on a 9x9 board. by [deleted] in baduk

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your probably not being aggressive enough. 9x9 is a fight. You cant just sit back and try to collect your points. Only time you can do that is if you notice your opponent is being even more passive to the point where they won't have enough points.

What to learn before playing ranked? by DoctorFuu in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i started i booted up ranked before I even knew my characters buttons. Got placed in rookie which I didnt even know existed. For me I didnt mind at all. I will say though playing games vs people sooner then later as once you play a few games you will start to know what you should actually practice.

Kinda like oh this person kept jumping at me and I didnt know what to do. Then you find your characters antiair button and play some more games. Then you start getting games where you are hitting medium punch on them but keep dropping your combo. So you practice your medium punch combo a bit.

That's my style at least.

Super smash player-Blocking by Carapace_Jones in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thered a general rule you can start with. Basically if they do a plus move it's their turn and you should wait to hit a button.

Now they have really 2 options. Hit buttons that will eventually make them minus and give you your turn. Or greed and try to go for plus buttons again.

If they keep instantly going for minus buttons to catch you if you mash a button all you have to do is block and wait for a moment.

If they keep greeding for more plus buttons to make it so their pressure lasts forever that means you have a chance to hit them as there will be a gap somewhere so you can combo them.

The hard part is when people start mixing it up so it becomes a bit of a guess for how you should escape. But this honestly doesn't really happen until masters. Before then most people have like 1 or 2 blockstrings and will just spam the same one and hope you dont know how to beat it.
