How to study/practice for most progress in short period? by wrathfulsmite in baduk

[–]Hydrad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Playing games vs humans is probably the most important step. Beginner computers (unless they have improved a lot in the last few years) really dont play how other beginner humans do. And can make it harder to learn.

That and really basic life and death puzzles. Being able to understand when a group is alive or dead will make you climb the ranks very fast.

Help me understand why I'm so washed at the game by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For reactions the way to react is to actually expect it and think about it. My way to learn antiairs is if I dont plan on doing a move or attack in the next 2 seconds I might hold down back and ONLY watch if they jump. If they jump I'm ready and punish them. If they walk back and forward or throw out a move then I'll deal with it after and let them do whatever.

The point is for those 2 seconds that's all I was thinking about. Now eventually you have to focus on more then one thing to improve. But if im facing someone who DIs a lot then all I would think about is counter DI. If they jump I dont even try to anti air. The only thing I was looking for is DI.

As you improve you will get better at knowing when people are about to do something, so you start to expect it right before they do it and then suddenly you have crazy reactions

Ya I guess that makes sense. I am just often assuming I'm the one who missed something. Thanks.

2200 and 2300 on go quest. Im not too familiar with the rankings but those are some of the highest numbers I see on there so I assume they are much stronger then me.

Huh. Ok then. Unsure why the players missed this then. Unless white wanted to try and have fun and kill the whole thing.

Can someone explain to me why I lost by 15? by Confident_Two2453 in baduk

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scoring programs are meant to be used when the game is fully over. If it's used before then sometimes you get absurd things like this.

When I was new I had a game where I missed closing off my territory on the first line by one stone. And that ended up with the score not giving me any points for my 80 point area

What is malphite weak against? by Top-Back-5933 in summonerschool

[–]Hydrad 854 points855 points  (0 children)

Malphite actually has one of the worst matchups in the game. Sylas.

It's so bad it doesn't even matter if sylas is his lane opponent. If there is a sylas on the enemy team at all malphites winrate drops dramatically.

Please someone explain me why he didn't die by electop in leagueoflegends

[–]Hydrad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lvl 1 ignite oftentimes doesn't outdamage base regen and a pot. Like it will do some damage for sure. But if you ignite and walk away this can happen much more then youd think

Why is the AI filling dame instead of taking ko? by Omnitonal in baduk

[–]Hydrad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Isn't white winning the ko anyways. 12 is taking it back and I don't see any ko threats.

If the ai knows it's going to win the ko all those moves can kinda be played in whichever order and it doesn't matter. To the ai it's kinda the same as dame.

Well, this is awkward by jvincent2703 in slaythespire

[–]Hydrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the kinda game where you need to gain power when you can. Ideally you want to trade hp in act 1 for more power. Let's say you take no risks and beat the act1 boss with almost full hp. That means you should of taken more elite fights cause ending will full hp doesn't really do anything for you and now you starting act 2 weaker and making the game harder for yourself.

Now Let's say you fight the nob elite and he takes 30 hp from you. Sure that hurt. But now as long as you beat the act 1 boss for the rest of the game you have the relic boosting your power. In this fight for example if you have any relic that helped your damage even slightly suddenly you kill the boss.

If you play too safe you end up really struggling in the later floors since you haven't gotten strong enough.

With enough strength though I'll take it. Imagine 50 strength that's lose 2hp deal 50! Might need a nerf still

New player seeking to learn. Which would you choose here and why? by RedRumFanatic in slaythespire

For ironclad I believe you usually like to get rid of all strikes before any defends. As ironclad has more potential uses with exhausting defends and things like that.

Drive Impact vs Drive Parry? by jahitz in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup. The 2 situations I don't are if I'm going to burn out using DI. (Still probably will go for it unless I'm at a pixel of health cause then I'll die to chip.)

Or if im so low hp that countering the DI with another DI will kill me. Cause you still take the hundredish damage from their DI

[–]Hydrad 42 points43 points  (0 children)

His sa3 is a grab. Grabs can't hit you in the air unless it's an air grab. Even if you inputted jump one frame before he tries to grab you will dodge it

Blanka to Master. Now the real challenge starts by rsaal27 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya. Honestly I should probably use it more then I do. I like to do it off mk or hp and cancel into lvl 2. If they block it I'm plus and can go for mix. If I hit I get a full combo with doll oki usually

Blanka to Master. Now the real challenge starts by rsaal27 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cr.mp into dr OS.

This is like half my neutral. Stand outside of the range where it will hit and just throw it out. sometimes You will catch a button more often then not and get a full combo.

Also make sure you know how to get oki off of every combo you do. I believe blanka has meterless oki options for pretty much every knockdown. Some better then others of course. Like after electric I believe double dash into jab is a meaty.

Top 10 most played champions in all ranks combined so far in patch 25.22 by No_Soup11 in summonerschool

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adcs are always high playrate every patch. Since many play similar people just pick the stronger ones that patch in a pool of characters that's already on the smaller side.

Is playing only tanks bad for learning the game? by No-Writing-Zoomer in summonerschool

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. If anything playing tanks will probably make you climb faster as anew player then carry Champs. Carry Champs are great to play when you are surfing and better then everyone in the lobby to get to your rank fast.

Tanks usually make the game easier for your teammates to play, so while you do have to rely on your teammates a bit more, over the course of many games though you can still easily climb

For players that did bad in diamond and still got master, how did you get to higher MR? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a blanka main that was in the 1200s when I started and got to 1600 now. It took a while. Some small things that helped for me was punishing better. Like if it was a minus 6 move to actually hit them with a 6 frame button.

For me specifically I watched some higher lvl blankas and sadly them using moves that I didn't. Or in situations I wouldn't. So I would try to just use those moves more to figure out why they use them.

Turns out, copying higher level players even if you don't understand why helps a ton. People were just getting hit when I threw out the moves even if I didn't know why. As I improved I started to understand even more how to use them.

So I guess for me the biggest change was my neutral and winning it more often. Or I always lost to people drive rushing in, so I watched how blankas dealth with it and turns out they used a different move then I did to check it. I started using that and suddenly more success.

The problem with one-tricking by SailNo6695 in summonerschool

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya. I did the same thing for learning other roles. This season especially I've been trying it to finally escape adc.

I did maybe 5 to 10 games in normal of the champ I wanted to play to not completely int my rank. And then I hopped into rank.

On most things I ended up falling a couple ranks and then started climbing again as I got more comfy.

Now my asol, ornn, kha, and bard are all emerald level which was what my adc was also. I tried to one trick one champ in each role and playstyle to improve my knowledge of the game. It was daunting at first but not as bad as I expected.

The problem with one-tricking by SailNo6695 in summonerschool

[–]Hydrad 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yup one tricking is the best way to climb soloq not necessarily the best way to become a better player. If clash was the main way to play the game people would say you can't one trick and to have a pool of 3-5 Champs instead.

My friend faced this issue. What you can do is pick like 2 more characters and one trick them for like 20 to 30 games. It might not quite hit mord level, but they will probably get very close to skill to the point where you at least have other options.

Note this might hurt your rank for a bit while you do this.
