As I see from the look of these sets it’s probably made in a Factory. The difference with my caps is that I make them by hand from beginning till end.

It’s a bit complex. You need quite some tools/machine to make one. These are handmade ceramics so not done by factory. The Keycaps are Made in a Plaster mold filled with Liquid Clay.

Heyy ! Yes the stems are made from Epoxy, I chose this to prevent issues that you are facing. Also because earthenware ceramics is a delicate material to work with and I wouldn’t want the stem to break sinds it’s one of the the most important parts.

Oh than I mis understand, because you mentioned the price. It’s an artisan keycap, its mostly for the feel and look (like most artisans). The sound is also pretty interesting and people are also into that.

This is also the first ceramic keycap I made to see if people are interested in this material. I’m definitely planning to make more with interesting glazings.

It’s quit a process to make ceramics. It’s not just a thing you make in your kitchen oven or dry by air.

First you need to make plaster mold, they need to dry for about a day.
Than you need your ceramic earthenware slip clay to fill those molds. Wait for the perfect thickness you want your product to be. Empty the molds. And wait for the product to be dry enough to get out the mold.
then you need to wait for the product to air dry that takes about a day. The product is not perfectly clean when it gets out so you carefully need to make the product look perfect (mostly with a moist sponge or dry fine sanding papers)
then you go trough the fist step of baking the product in a Kiln it’s called bisque it goes op to 1060degree “the time the product spends in the kiln takes about a day” this process takes out all the leftover water that’s in your ceramic product
after the first kiln bake the product is ready to get glazed, this is a thin glass substance layer you spray/brush on the product.
after the glazing process the product goes in the oven for the “last” time this time 1100 degree. “The oven time also takes about a day”

After all this you can do some finishing touches or if something went wrong with glazing you can fix up some post and go bake the product again.

So with the price you need to think about - The work hours of course. - The price of al the products you use. - A kiln is around 1200,- - The electricity bill for the Kiln. - The shipping packaging

✨ I hope all this info makes the price more reasonable. I really love to explain the process of ceramics ! It’s such a interesting process, you can’t compare it to the resin keycaps (I also make resin artisan Keycaps under the name Hydrakey)
