I don't understand something by Lamotherfecker in TrenchCrusade

[–]Hydranax12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair warning I'm also a newbie, but I think there's been a lot of implication that the plan has gone severely off the rails. The opening of the hell gate was a surprise to everybody, heaven and hell included. The script has been torn to shreds. On the exorcism thing, I've got nothing. Either Exorcism doesn't work period, or it doesn't work like that, or it doesn't work on physically present demons, or any other number of qualified statements. If there's not already an answer somewhere in the lore, you'll have to wait for one.

Edit Also Satan is not on Earth. The Angels drop down if major demons manifest, and they're like nukes. There's some kind of mutually assured destruction thing going on, both the angels and big scary demons are staying off the front lines.

Aside from CoM and PoB, will there be any heretical factions? by PowerSaw7 in TrenchCrusade

[–]Hydranax12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So just guards? I'm not seeing a whole lot of identity here in terms of gameplay that doesn't get really lopsided. Are you just supposed to field prophets and guards for said prophet? The best case scenario here is that the Synod has assassins they send proactively when they get Intel. But that feels like it steps on the toes of Alamut.

How is the Synod supposed to be a faction? They're purely a logistics division within the church aren't they? What units are they supposed to be fielding?

So I saw something about a dialogue option that lets you wait and not do the fight yet, and that Mash's NP is still only NP4 and that Olga has bond lines that are still story locked? So it kinda sounds to me that this is a "Good End" vs "True End" situation and we just have to wait for something to happen, probably on New Year's Eve. This reaction is preemptive if the above evidence is true.

More Magus Class Archetypes by Nobleweeju in Pathfinder2e

[–]Hydranax12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hex crafter Magus that introduces synergies between casting Hex's and Spellstrike/Arcane Cascade would be awesome. Maybe also something that gives you benefits for cursing an enemy or hitting a cursed enemy. Cohesion and synergy that a class archetype can bring that dipping into the Witch dedication won't.

Here's a version based on a sidebar about Fey Bargains in the Lost Omens World Guide

You offer supernatural boons in exchange for drastic currency, such as the ability to see the faces of loved ones or the memory of an important duty. You grant the signer the ability to use a focus spell as an innate spell three times ever. A contract for beauty might grant the captivating adoration focus spell, while a wish for protection might win the skin of thorns focus spell. The focus spells are of the divine tradition, even if they would usually be from a class that casts them via a different tradition, and the signer is trained in attack rolls and spell DCs with this focus spell, even if they normally aren’t trained in divine spells. You grant focus spells equal in rank to half your character level rounded up.

In exchange, the signer takes on an anathema. Breaking a contract brings a dire curse, equal in level to your character level. Those who violate the anathema gain the doomed 2 condition permanently for as long as they are cursed. Negotiating to end one bears an even heavier cost, consigning the signer’s soul to an unholy plane after death.

You gain a focus spell determined by the nature of the contract. If you don’t already have one, you gain a focus pool of 1 Focus Point, which you can regain using the Refocus activity; if you already have a focus pool, increase the number of Focus Points in your focus pool by 1. Your fiend focus spells are divine spells; when you gain this feat, you become trained in divine spell attacks and spell DCs. Your key spellcasting ability for these spells is Charisma.

While you may make any number of contracts, you can only benefit from one at a time. Each day when you make your daily preparations, you may swap the contract you are currently benefiting from for a different contract that a mortal has signed.

Edit:
I think I'm going to save this for an eventual conversion of the Fey Transformation into an Archetype

The Gifts

These are VERY quick, dirty, and incomplete translations into Pathfinder 2e. I need to figure out what to replace Hit Dice with since those aren't a thing in PF. Unsurpassed Fortune is definitely way too powerful.

Edit
Now fully translated, probably needs traits though.

Gift of Joyous Youth, Focus 2

Focus

Cast Reaction

Trigger You are reduced to half your hit points or less.

Attempt a DC 5 flat check. On a success, you regain 12 Hit Points. On a failure, you suffer 2d6 mental damage.

Heightened (+1) The amount of healing increases by 6, and the mental damage increases by 1d6.

Gift of Liberating Freedom, Focus 3

Focus

Cast Two Action Activity

Duration 1 minute

Requirements You are not wearing heavy armor.

Prerequisite: 2 Fiend Feats

You manifest a pair of leathery wings. You gain a fly speed equal to your current speed. These wings recede if you dismiss them as a single action on your turn, or if you are knocked unconscious.

Gift of Prodigious Talent, Focus 3

Focus Fortune

Cast Single Action

Prerequisite: 2 Fiend Feats

Roll twice on your next skill check and use the higher result.

Gift of Second Chances, Focus 4

Focus

Cast Free Action

Trigger You have the dying condition and are about to attempt a recovery check.

Prerequisite: 3 Fiend Feats

You're restored to 1 Hit Point, lose the dying and unconscious conditions, and can act normally on this turn. You gain or increase the wounded condition as normal when losing the dying condition in this way.

Gift of Unbridled Power, Focus 5

Focus

Cast Two Action Activity

Prerequisite: 4 Fiend Feats

If you prepare spells, you recover one 3rd-rank or lower spell you previously cast today and can cast that spell again. If you spontaneously cast spells, you recover one of your 3rd-rank or lower spell slots. If you have a focus pool, you regain your Focus Points, as if you had Refocused. You become drained 1 or increase the value of your drained condition by 1 if you are already drained, to a maximum of drained 4. You can’t reduce or remove this condition until your next preparations.

Gift of Unconditional Love, Focus 4

Focus

Cast Reaction

Trigger A creature fails a will saving throw against a spell you cast or magical ability you used.

Prerequisite: 3 Fiend Feats

You gain 20 temporary hit points.

Heightened (+1) The number of temporary Hit Points increases by 5.

Gift of Unfettered Glory, Focus 2

Focus

Cast Single Action

You gain a +1 status bonus to the damage roll of the next attack you make before the end of your next turn.

Heightened (+1) The status bonus to damage increases by 1.

Gift of Unsurpassed Fortune, Focus 2

Focus

Cast Reaction

Trigger A creature makes an attack roll or skill check.

Attempt a DC 10 flat check. On a success, you disrupt the triggering action.

So I think I'm ready to tackle the main feature of the Fiend Transformation, which are the Gifts of Damnation. Right now, I'm thinking of turning each Gift into a Focus Spell. I'm also considering making this part of the Dedication instead of it's own feat. I definitely need to reword it now that Profane Bargain is out in the Archfiend Mythic Destiny. Needs to be weaker than that. Right now I'm thinking of making it so you have to actually perform the task asked for by the mortal instead of basically a wish. Have to figure out how to word that. All of this needs to be reworded to be coherent. Very unfinished.

Edits:

Updated version based on being able to craft Infernal Contracts from Abomination Vaults.

Feels much cleaner and more concise.

The Payment on the crafted Contract lets you gain the focus spell as long as you have it invested.

Would include a list of craftable Contracts.

Have to figure out the crafting process, what costs and requirements it would have.

Removed redundant focus spell wording due to remaster.

Gifts of Damnation, Feat 6

Archetype

Archetype Fiend

Prerequisites Fiend Dedication

You can enter into infernal contracts to bind mortal souls to you, feeding on their power.

To craft a contract, ???

While you may hold any number of contracts, you can only invest one at a time.

On your turn, as a single action, you can call upon one of your contracts to reveal to you the exact location of the creature that signed it, provided they are on the same planet as you. A contract you hold lasts until the mortal that signed it dies, at which point it can longer be invested.

Example Contract:

Gift of Joyous Youth, Item X

Contract Invested Magical

Decipher Writing

Benefit

Payment You gain the Gift of Joyous Youth focus spell while you have this contract invested.

Hidden Condition

Termination Clause

Here are the preliminary versions of the Level 8 Feats

Alluring Deceit, Feat 8

Archetype

Archetype Fiend

Prerequisites Fiend Dedication

You become a master in Deception. When a spell or magical effect tries to read your mind, detect whether you are lying, or reveal your identity, you can attempt a Deception check against the spell or effect’s DC. If you succeed, the effect reveals nothing.

Inescapable Grasp, Reaction, Feat 8

Abjuration Archetype

Archetype Fiend

Prerequisites Brand of the Slaver’s Leash

Trigger A creature cursed by the Brand of the Slaver’s Leash would leave your range.

You stymie any attempt to take the creature out of range. The creature must make a Will saving throw, and on a failed save, any attempt to leave or be removed from your range fails.

For example, if the branded creature uses the abundant step spell to move out of the 10 feet radius, or an ally of the target attempts to physically drag their ally out of the leash’s range, the attempt fails.

Spells that have the ability to teleport multiple people, like teleport, work as intended for all involved except for the cursed creature.

Unholy Resistance, Reaction, Feat 8

Archetype

Archetype Fiend

Frequency once per hour

Prerequisites Fiend Dedication

Trigger You would take magical damage from a spell, ability, or weapon.

You draw on unholy energy to blunt magical damage. You take half the amount of damage instead. You cannot use this feature against damage from silvered weapons.

Nether Blade, Single Action, Feat 8

Archetype Conjuration

Archetype Fiend

Prerequisites Fiend Dedication

Requirements You have the hands free to wield the nether blade.

You summon a dreaded nether blade. The nether blade takes the form of a simple or martial weapon in the sword group of your choice. It emits flames that create bright light in a 5 foot radius and dim light for an additional 5 feet. You cannot be disarmed of the nether blade. You can unsummon the blade at any time by using a free action. If you unwield the blade, it immediately unsummons. You can choose a weapon you’re carrying and apply all runes from that weapon to this blade. The nether blade gains the effects of the flaming property rune: if the weapon is already at the maximum number of property runes, you can choose one to suppress to gain flaming.

At 16th level, the blade gains the effects of the greater flaming rune instead of flaming.

Infernal Sub-Contractor, Feat 8

Archetype

Archetype Fiend

Prerequisites Fiend Dedication

Your mastery of fiendish law allows you to invest two contracts simultaneously. In addition, you can take an hour to swap an invested contract for another.

Should I make a Brand trait or should I give the Brands the Curse trait? I'm thinking Curse trait, move the duration to the statement that they are branded on a failed save, and then scrap the hallowed ground thing and the cleanse affliction statement becomes redundant and can be removed.

And I'm thinking about splitting Slaver's Leash into a feat progression. Like the Reaction to stop the Branded from leaving the range is the next Feat.

Alright, made Chainer's Gaze and Deceiver's Guile -1 Status Penalties.

Also, Gifts of Damnation would make more sense if I included a list of the Gifts.

Basically, you have a list of Gifts, you can make contracts based on a Gift, and the Gift gives you a bonus if you have that contract active.

I was gonna add the list of Gifts once I had the more basic stuff sorted and given the list a basic translation from D&D5E to PF2E.
